  1. I'm beginning to regret making the post. Suffice to say I'll not be posting again to this forum if this is how you treat a newbie. We all make mistakes sometimes.
  2. Had my first ever flight today. I got over to the club field early this morning so nobody would be around to witness the trauma. Although it was a bit windy for a foam trainer I managed to get it in the air, sort of fly it round the field and land it without any damage. Woo hoo! Took off again and watched it disappear over the adjacent ploughed field as the wind took hold of it and watched it fall to earth semi-gracefully and land nose first into a furrow. It broke the plastic prop so I replaced it from the extensive stock of spare props I carry and tried again. The wind was gusting too strong so I called it a day. Still, I'm happy with what I'd achieved but I think I'll get a lot more practice in before attempting to fly the Magnatilla I've built. Here's hoping for a windless day in Lincolnshire. Some hope.
  3. Thanks for all your replies, seems it's cover first then hinge. Richard, I see what you mean about hinging with the covering, the plan says ailerons can be hinged this way but shows elevators and rudder with hinges.
  4. Hi, I'm new to aero modelling and I'm in the middle of building a Flair Magnatilla. Should I fit the hinges for the elevator, rudder and ailerons then cover or the other way round? Seems like it may be a bit fiddly to cut the Solartex around the hinges and end up with a decent finish if the hinges are already in place. On the other hand, once covered I don't want to get any glue splashes etc on the covering. Any advice much appreciated.
  5. Hi, my name's Dave. I've been modelling railways for several years but now I'm retired I need a hobby that would get me out of the house as well as in the shed. A friend showed me his model aircraft and I think I'm hooked. So, I've jumped in at the deep end and bought a kit and while I'm building it (could take some time   I'll learn to fly, hopefully. I'm bound to need some help so when my mate gets fed up with me phoning him I'll no doubt be posting.
