  1. Thank you to all those that took the time and trouble to provide helpful responses, much appreciated.

I have built a scaled up version (6ft span) from the Brian Peckham plan and so the 'standard' size canopy is too small. Ebay is your best bet here, there is plenty on there in various sizes, thicknesses and cheap. I usually just stick to the UK sellers and there are plenty of those. I normally buy from there if I can't get to a hobby shop. I make quite a lot of windscreens for Scale RC helis. I can confirm it does work very well with a Vac Former too as I have one and have tried it. I find 0.5 to 0.75 mm best to work with on the Vac Former. 1mm can be done but best only for very simple shape screens. Mark   Thanks for your helpful response Mark. The canopy itself will be about 300mm x 300mm then I need to allow for overlap and fitting into the frame, so I need fairly large sheets. I have been struggling to find the size I need and prices were higher than I expected. I have looked on ebay and while there seems to be plenty on there, not found anything suitable yet. Fortunately there are more helpful people here who appreciate you have probably already done that, but that someone else may have managed to 'dig up' something you did not find.

  5. Thank you all for your comments; appreciated as always.
  6. Does anyone have any experience with Hangar One kits? I am particularly interested in the Curare 64.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I don't want to go with a larger engine as that would require too much surgery, just want to see if I can get more out of the current engine. 11x6 on a 40 4 stroke should be pretty good. which model is it fitted to and do you know top end rpm? It's in a Ballerina, have not measured RPM. Are there any phone apps that will do this reliably?
  8. Posted by Percy Verance on 04/11/2018 08:18:35: David I mentioned earlier that perhaps a witch to the Saito .56 would get you where you would like to be? My point being that as far I'm aware, they're the same physical crankcase size, along with the mounting holes, so there shouldn't be any surgery involved....... Thanks Percy, nice idea but the Saito 50 and 56 are not in production any more and unfortunately they are bigger. In fact the FA40 is sold as an 'oversize' 30; to quote: Similar case size as a .30, but packs more power

  10. Is there anyone out there providing engine tuning? I would like an increase in performance from my Saito FA40 over and above just setting it up correctly. I am aware engine tuning comes at a cost in terms of engine wear etc, but would like to explore this option if it is available.

  13. I'm looking for an accuracy of +/- 2mm
  14. Can anyone help? I need to know the dimension between the underside of the exhaust and the top of the engine mount lug for an SC36 as in the picture...
