  1. Looks like I’ll be sticking with the fc28 then boys! Can anyone suggest a reasonable battery cycler/checker I could use to fully cycle all my battery packs. There are a couple of ‘super nova’ chargers on eBay at around £20. Are these any good?
  2. **LINK** This one here? What is the advantage in reality? It’s the age of the components in the transmitter that I’m thinking about. I’ve never lost a model due to interference so that’s not a worry(especially nowadays!)
  3. Thanks for the suggestions guys. All very interesting. Am tempted to keep the F.C. then, but I know what can happen to solder joints, capacitors etc over time and this set must be well over 35 yrs old now. It has been kept in a padded metal case so no concerns there though. With the cost of electronics coming down, I thought maybe it would be less risky to get new. At the end of the day I just don’t want to risk a model that took my dad and I a long time to build and has great sentimental value. It’s all about the reliability of the components but if the only test is a range check then I’ll do that and stick with it. Have been looking at battery cyclers on eBay , a super nova 1-25 cell on there at the moment may be a good buy? To replace all my batteries would cost a bit, would think just the F.C. battery would be bucks. Be good to have an electronic cycler/tester. Thoughts? Thanks again chaps👍
  4. after looking to ‘get back into it’ I think as my batteries, although seemingly ok, are well over ten years old on all my kit, so it may be time instead of buying new batteries for my 35mhz Futaba FC-28, to change all the kit to 2.4ghz. Back in the day the F.C.-28 cost £££££’s but with tech coming on, and not wanting to break the bank(only going to link 4/5 models and hopefully teach my lad how to fly, what is the best value, reliable kit to use? I have always been a futaba fan over JR etc, but am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance
  5. Many thanks chaps! Had a sheet 1220x900x9.5 in the boot of the car by 10.30 after reading your posts! £4.49 from wickes
  6. And Chris, what thickness mdf?
  7. Many thanks Chris, I’ve just found I’ve asked the same question before on here, years ago! Must be the dementia! Do the tiles stay flat? And what do you stick them down with? I’ve some great double sided tape! Another problem is radio gear. Would be good to change my F.C.-28 for 2.4ghz. But don’t want to spend more than necessary. It would need model memories and a trainer switch so I can teach my son how to fly
  8. Also, I need to construct a building board. All info I’ve found on this are from the states using products I’ve never heard of. Any info on materials to make a nice flat, cheap board that can be moved from garage to dining room easily much appreciated. Got a wicks, b&q, Homebase nearby!
  9. Hi All, I’m looking to return to the hobby after about 20 years out and build my sophisticated lady kit that has sat untouched in the garage for that time! My question is, what is the best online shop for all things rc? I live in Bedford, and any shops I used to use have since closed. I’m going to get my old telemaster 66 ready to teach my lad(an myself again) as this is what I learned to fly on about 33 years ago! Cheers Matt
  10. Thanks for the replies chaps. Plasterboard onto kitchen work top it is!! On my way to wickets today. Now, should I bin my Fc-28 and get a 2.4 g system? If so what one? Too much choice with prices all over the place! thanks again matt
  11. Hi All, I have a fair selection of models and used to fly regularly, and have great memories of building my telemaster 66, magnatilla and Goldberg Electra, 30 years ago with my Dad, who sadly passed away last year.I still have both models, and intend to get them flying again this year. I also have a flair sophisticated lady kit that Im looking forward to building, but Im struggling to find any information on building boards. Can anyone give me some advice on what to buy and where, and on glues etc to use, as im sure thiungs have moved on since my last build with Dad 30 years ago(I was 10 then!) Any help/advice greatly appreciated, Matt
  12. Hi.I have recently taken up the hobby again after over a decade of getting mortages/married/kids etc, and am wondering if there is a easy cheap way of cycling the tx/rx batteries. I use futaba radio gear, and looked into cycling gadgets but they are all quite pricey.Surely there is a cheaper way of making a simple battery drain tool? Any ideas new or old much appreciated. Matt
  13. Now most shops have gone online, would it be a good idea to have a page on the modelflying site devoted to listing all R/C shops still going? The reason for asking is this.I have been out of the hobby for some time, and am just getting back into it, and wish to purchase for my nephew(honest- as I already have one!!) a picoo z micro heli. Now, I need this ideally by tomorrow, so obviously online is not an option, I have googled for shops in my area, with no results(although I know of a shop 3/4 hour away) A list by County would be very usefull and help advertise these shops that are struggling in these internet days!!!What do you think??
  14. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE HOBBY FOR ABOUT THE PAST 10 YRS, AND NOW THINGS ARE AT LAST CALMING DOWN(MOVING HOUSE/MARRIAGE/ARRIVAL OF KIDS!!) AM LOOKING TO START AGAIN.I STILL HAVE ALL OF MY MODELS BUT OBVIOUSLY NEED TO CHANGE BATTERY PACKS ETC.LOOKING NOW ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCES THE PAST 10 YRS HAVE MADE. ALL RX'S ARE SO SMALL, AS WITH LI-PO BATTERY PACKS I WOULDN'T KNOW WHERE TO START.I USE A FUTABA FC-28 TX AND WILL NEED A BATTERY FOR THAT.ANYONE KNOW THE MODEL NUMBER AND WHERE I CAN FIND THIS?ALSO WHATS WITH ALL THE ARTF'S NOW LAST TIME I BOUGHT THE MAG THERE WERE A FEW TACKY LOOKING ARTF'S AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS A KIT.NOW YOU CAN ONLY FIND KITS OF CLASSICS(WHICH I ALREADY HAVE- WOT4 MAGNATILLA ETC)ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED.ANYONE LIVE IN BEDFORD AREA?MATT
