  1. The tomboys I have are actually 11oz and 8.5oz, sorry for the confusion
  2. KC, I've just checked out the brc site and it's brilliant for a dullard like myself, found it to fit my needs, spot on and thank you agin everyone.
  3. Many thanks for you help guys, the Tomboy weight was a typo, I'm going to spend the rest of this afternoon deciding and buying online, but not sure on manufacturer now, I know are meant to be poor and I only like the best, but what are the best. Thank you fun flyer, KC, John, DCW, Geoff and PatMc, your help is very much appreciated.
  4. Hi everyone, I've been flying 32 years and finally moving over to electric. I am trying to convert a vic smeed tomboy at around 75oz and a keilkraft scorpion at around 1lb1oz. I've seen formulars etc on line but fine them conflicting and confusing, one thing I do know is that I need a 100w for the scorpion that will use a 9" prop and the tomboy needing an 70w with an 7"/8" prop, that's as far as I've got and don't the kv needed speed controller and battery, any help is very welcome. Buffy
  5. There's one on eBay for sale at a bargain price, it was mine that I sold to a geezer down south, I bought it off eBay but it transpires it originally belonged to a club mate who knows how to build models, this one is no exception, it flew superbly.
  6. Many thanks lads, it's at 17oz without covering but the wing is in solartex but it's original from the 70's and the wing is so straight I thought I would leave and solar film over it the fuselage has been stripped due to a soggy deisel front end, rebuilt and will be solar filmed, I've got a 30mm elevator and a 30mm rudder and was hoping that should be sufficient. Chosen film over tissue or lite span as I want silver wings/tail plane and sky blue fuselage, I used to have on a Galahad back in the 80's and it looked great. I will be using you generous information guys to my best achievements.
  7. Hey PatMc that's great news, I've been looking for suppliers and don't know which will give me best value for money as the matador won't be used often, so don't want to spend loads on it.
  8. I've just weighed it, it's 17oz without lipo, I dont have lips yet., many thanks For the info, I'll be busy looking for deals this evening
  9. Thankyou Dave, I'll look into the weight of it, but does that inlcude the radio etc as part if the weight or just the airframe.
  10. Hello, you can find all the info on Sam 35 website, it's a great day out and you'll find normally three dates. If you like the old stuff, four strokes, diesels and San electric section all pre 1964 you'll love it.
  11. Hi all, I need help with electric set up, I've jot a clue as I used to be an IC bloke for 30 years. I'm refurbing an original Mercury matador and a scaled down version of a Mercury Galahad of 40", I want go electric with them but not a clue on motors or speed controllers and batteries, agh! Can you help?
  12. FANTASTIC, WHAT A RESULT, THANKS ANDY Kevin the chap I know of and the friend he flys with are not of the same moral fibre as us, they blatantly disregard rules and regs etc it's those I'm against as the rest of us should be as they are the ones that give us bad press, I've said nothing wrong here it's observations that annoy me as it effects our hobby, and I'm one for long live RC, I understand you can fly in other places other than clubs, I'm not stupid it's just the fact that some do it in places that are built up, small parks etc, I'm fully aware that some quad operators are CAA approved for flying in built up areas but a lot aren't it's the later that will cause problems and tighten the rules on the ones that do operate within the rules as they are the easiest target, those that comply always end up paying for those that don't.
  13. Just for the record the club I originally talked about being full is not Worcester Model Aero Club, they are my next port of call, they have two fields I recently was informed of, and one of the fields about 1.5 miles from and I didn't even know, must be all electric, but there's a lot of trees around here blanking out sound, I hope the Inn keeper can find space for a despairing flyer.
