  1. I'm not a fan of 2 strokes; sounds too much like someone flying a strimmer for my ear. As for reliability, my 29 year old Laser 45 has 100's of hours on it and has never stopped in the air (except when it ran out of fuel, which was my own fault) so I will be sticking with Laser. Let's not forget that the acrowot was designed around a 4 stroke.
  2. Hi Jon, As much as I would love to order an engine now, due to a puncture on the car I have had to push the project back a couple of months. As for the 45, I did look at replacing it in the Wot4 with a 70 but the distance from the back of the carb to the prop driver on the 45 is 10mm less than the 70 and I don't fancy hacking a hole in the side of the model as it was a gift (including the engine) from my Dad. The 45 had always run exceedingly well, has never stopped in the air and started first try after being sat for 10 years in my Dad's workshop when we stopped flying. I'll give you a call as soon as possible to order the engine, but it will likely be the end of Feb before I have the funds. Chris.
  3. Thanks guys. Jon, strange you should mention the 45 as I have one of those in my Wot 4 (which is underpowered but still flies nicely). It is the reliability of that engine which makes me want another laser. I will probably buy the 80 in a month or so when I finish getting the funds together for the project. Once again, thanks for your advice. Chris
  4. Hi Folks, I have returned to flying IC after about 20 years so I am in need of a little advice. I am going to build an Acro Wot from a kit (not the ARTF) and I am trying to decide between a laser 70, which is slightly lighter and smaller, and the laser 80 which is bigger and more powerful. I have read all the Acro Wot threads I can find and I know that either engine can fit but that the 80 needs some modifications to the kit to get it in. I guess the question is: Is it worth going for the larger engine?
