  1. Thanks Bob. Thanks Colin. I havent started dismantling the old one yet, but glad you mentioned them. Will now look out for them.
  2. Today I picked up an old but unused Ripmax Sigma charger,. Upon inspection this evening it comes with 2 boards for connecting balance leads but neither are JST-XH. I am happy to by a new board as they are only cheap, but need to be sure that any lead supplied will fit into side of charger. Below is the connector. Can someone confirm what type it is please? Thanks
  3. Whilst contemplating what plane to fiddle with next, I decided I would sort out my acrowot foam e. I was given this plane because it needed a new fuselage which I now have. It comes in 2 halves to enable fitting all the elements and then needs gluing together. So, what should I use? UHU Por, Aliphatic or Gorilla? Any experiences good or bad please? Thanks
  4. Thanks DD, but I guess I was thinking that more people would already be aware of this kit and have a view already on what kind of value it had. The intention was to attract more knowledge than offers (although clearly offers are good ). However, as advised, info from box states: Scale - 1:6.86 WIngspan 1422mm Length 1160mm Weight 3.4 - 4.9kg Engine - 50 to 60
  5. Kevin, PM replied to. Well, with so few responses I am going to assume this is ultra rare and therefore worth a lot! I take it no one else has any idea? Thanks
  6. I am considering selling this kit to provide the funds to buy another kit I have my eye on. Anyone have any ideas on value please. I have no reason to think it isn't complete, and does include the aluminium cowl although that does have a few marks on it. Thanks
  7. Thanks cymaz, but I have to be honest that search engine isn't much help to me as I don't know what the answers are to half of it. Percy. I guess the standard answer is the Futabe 3003s which seem to be useful for most "normal" sized planes. What about throttle and ailerons where I would use smaller ones please? Also, anyone got any thoughts on the non branded servos? Thanks all
  8. With so much choice, I have no idea how to select what servos I need. Build is the slow poke sport 40 and will be powered by a 52 4 stroke and spectrum radios gear. Any help would be appreciated. Will be ordering online and happy to buy from any store including robotbird and hobbyking Thanks
  9. I now have an old Flair Fokker D7 which has been built but never flown. Up front is an older Laser which I am told has only ever been test run some years ago. But how can I tell what model / size it is please?
  10. Well, look what I now have. Think it could be complete but don't have any instructions or plans which is a shame as would love to have built it. I'm still hoping they turn up in previous owner's loft though.
  11. Same again, any ideas what this is please? Wingspan is about 53" Thanks
  12. The first of a few that I will be posting over the coming weeks, trying to establish knowledge around a load of old models I have acquired. The first is this tiger moth. Wingspan is about 70". Thanks
  13. Yes, thanks Cymaz. So there are also loads of IC props amongst it all. Anything I should consider or I should it simply balance and use? Thanks   Edited By Andy C on 02/10/2018 20:58:02
  14. Thanks all for your useful replies. I’ll get some photos up here as soon as I start to sort it all out and then will have to pick the first model to get up in the air.
  15. I have just bought a loft full of stuff from a friend who stopped flying a few years ago. Included is everything that any one of us would have collected over many years of building and flying, including planes, engines, tools, spares, kits, props, etc. I am only half way through my working life, so a long way off retirement, but I intend to slowly work through all the stuff, restoring planes, rebuilding engines etc with no pressure of rushing anything. Obviously any batteries will be replaced, and I guess it is worth replacing fuel line and fuel tanks, but is there anything else I should consider? What about unused hinges, servo horns, props etc. I know that some plastics don't age very well. Should I throw all these or not? I see a lot of threads on here of guys that have stripped and recovered their old planes from decades ago so clearly it is possible to get oldplanes flying again. Thanks
  16. Am full speed ahead with my slow poke kit but need to order some more glue, specifically thin CA and Aliphatic. For my previous build I used Zap thin CA and Deluxe Aliphatic Resin as provided by my LFS. However, the LFS is no longer there, and so buying on-line is providing way more options to me. Because of that though I now not sure what to go for as it seems the glues I have been using are "higher end" on the price scale. Should I continue with those or are people happy with the cheaper stuff? Thanks Andy Edited By Andy C on 25/09/2018 19:55:00
  17. Well, Its all proving too much bother to be honest. I have tried printing as posters on both my home machines. A small samsung laser and a canon inkjet. When you come to stitch them together it becomes apparent that both printers track badly with one side stretching the print as much as 2.5mm compared to the other meaning cut lines (and the rest of the print) don't line up and the canon is about 1mm. Not a lot but with 5x5 sheet it makes it near on impossible to get right. I then looked up and Office Outlet does do the prints for £5.50 each sheet. However, having checked the pdf of the plans is slightly larger than A0 so not a simple here is the file now print for me. Easier just to build on the supplied plans and worry about it another time!
  18. Started my build of my slow poke and want to get a copy of the plans printed so that I can worry less about destroying the original. I've already downloaded the pdf from outerzone. Anyway, came across netprinter.co.uk on line and wondered if there is any real life experience of them on this forum please? Thanks
  19. My understanding is that this is an issue with the insurance provided by the BMFA and that they (insurance or BMFA ?) cannot confirm in writing either way what their cover provides for. If that is the case it could be further reaching could it not?
  20. Same as mine. Confused me as well but went with it. I maidened mine before my holiday and it flew alright, although will wait next time till wind is less (was actually quite gusty). The issue I have is the props seem to be really unbalanced and unless I am doing something wrong even some paint on one tip and sanding the other doesn.t fix it! Andy
  21. Fantastic. Just bought one from 7dayshop.
  22. Just wondered what everyone uses to charge their single AA NIMH 1.2v batteries as I need to buy a new one. Thanks Andy
  23. Well, unless I am totally loosing my marbles I have no X piece. Neither with the electronics kit (linked below) or as a pre-cut piece in the plane kit! Electronics kit Cambrian supply.... **LINK**
