  1. Hey Guys, seem to have conquered the problem. Attilio suggested a link where you use the Transmitter to download the update to the receiver. Followed the video and updated two of my three S8R's. Apparently when you update the software the are supposed to be reset to quick mode. That didn't happen but when I tested one of the receivers I found that it was now working correctly on all five functions i.e. Stabilisation, Knife edge, Hover, Auto and Off. Fantastic. The second one, I wasn't so lucky and still had the same problem. So tried Config v1.8.4 again. Still wouldn't work. Went back to v1.3 and tried programming again. All programmed okay as before but this time tried revising aileron 1 & 2. Reconnected receiver. Oh joy! it worked okay. I realised that the aileron would still have to be working in the correct direction in order to stabilise correctly so went back in to the program and changed Aileron 1 back to its correct direction and left aileron 2 where I had set it. It worked fine. Now no problem with the receivers. Tried out the S.Port Airlink, No luck Im afraid. The app I downloaded onto my iPhone kept dropping out of the radio link and also when it was connected wasn't able to read or write again to the receiver. I haven't tried using it in place of the STK tool yet though. Thanks very much for your help guys. Looks like the problem was quite simple in the end. Just revers Aileron 2 in the program v1.3
  2. Thanks Attilio for the Link. Looks easy, I'll give it a try.
  3. Yes, I did set the dip switch before plugging it in and also made sure the plug was on the other side with the data lead on the outside edge. I'll try the double click to see if it makes a difference. The Painless360 videos are great and I used them to set up my Taranis when I first got it. I've since found an additional way of programming these receivers using S.Port Airlink, so have ordered one from T9 Hobbies. Hoping that may make it easier. Thanks for your suggestion
  4. Hey guys I have tried and tried to configure several of my S8R receivers. I have found that the old 1.3v reads and writes perfectly. The drawback is that it doesn't allow you to select "Quick mode. However versions 1.8.1 and 1.8.4 do give you the option of selecting Quick mode and also allows you to reconfigure channels 5 & 6 to Aux 1 & Aux 2. Both these later versions work great with the S6R but not with the S8R. Also tried to flash the latest software using my STK tool but wont connect. Any ideas how I can proceed. I'm not happy with using Open TX as the last time I tried it I decimated my SD card and had to hunt around to get a replacement download for it to get sound back. I know that the S8R 's are not in quick mode as they do not flash a blue LED when activated. The problem I have with the programming with 1.3 version is that when I select Auto mode on my Taranis X9d plus, the elevator, aileron and rudder go to extreme point.
  5. Hey Guys thanks for all your comments. The EZ flyer has now gone to the great aircraft hanger in the sky and is resigned to be put down to experience.
  6. All connections were good and all were working after the crash.
  7. We've flown other aircraft since with the same transmitter so I don't think its that. All of the servos being faulty is hardly likely since I tried all movements prior to the crash. Nothing worked. The only other thing is radio signal interference like we used to get with 35mhz if someone else was on your frequency. Question is, is that possible on 2.4ghz
  8. If it wasn't a problem with the Esc then what else could have caused it. the aircraft wasn't out of range. In fact it was only about 200 yards when I lost control. The previous two flights were great. It flew really well. I doubt that both receivers were faulty. I have been corrected by my friend who's aircraft it was that the first receiver was Orange and after the first crash he replaced it with Lemon receiver. The DX6 Transmitter is a DSMX transmitter so it couldn't have been on DSM2 by mistake besides witch fact the aircraft had two good flight each time before crashing on the third flight. We've put the Esc away marked suspect along with both receivers.
  9. The receiver wouldn't have stayed on to operate safe mode if the power supply to the receiver had been temporarily interrupted due to a problem with the Esc and the throttle would have remained in the same position . Thats why I tend to think that its the Esc that is the problem.
  10. We have several other BNF models and this is the first one to cause a problem. Previously flown ic models without this kind of problem. Still flying Mk lX spitfire, Hanger 9 Cherokee and Flair SE5a with four strokes. Electric is just less to carry to the field.
  11. The prop etc is as standard supplied and not been altered in any way.
  12. Im not sure wether the motor was hot, but since flying electric it seemed a good idea to allow five or ten minutes between flights just to be on the safe side.
  13. Thanks for your replies guys. Failsafe checked several times and is working with about two second or so delay. Using a 3 cell lipo as recommended, 2900. Rx used in another aircraft without problem. Tx used with other aircraft without problem. Rx rebound carried out on both receivers on low throttle. Not using DSM2
  14. Hi Guys. My friend recently purchased the FMS EZ trainer. It flew great on the maiden flight and then again on a new battery a second time. after waiting a while for the motor to cool down again, we put in another new battery. It flew great for about three or four minutes then went completely out of control. None of the controls worked the motor stayed on full throttle. The failsafe had been activated prior to flying so the throttle should have automatically gone to the off position. Instead it circled to the left on full throttle. I was flying at the time and I could do nothing with it. The radio being used was Specktrum DX6 with Orange receiver. This was the second time the radio had failed on this aircraft the first time being with a Specktrum receiver, The first crash we blamed on the receiver, so changed it. fortunately it sustained very little damage the first time. I can only conclude that it is the esc to blame as no power to the radio must have been the problem. When we collected the pieces from the second crash the radio gear looked as though it was working perfectly. Any ideas out there?
  15. Thanks Denis. Im new to electric power. I have six now and its the first time I've encountered a problem with the motor. Still have four ic driven aircraft all of which I've had for a good ten years and still flying. Thanks again for your help
  16. Hey Denis are you referring to the ESC, as the instructions don't appear to mention anything about setting up the motor. Anyway, according to the manual the model has been tested and checked by "experienced Pilots". If this the case its the first foamie that I have had where it has been required to do so. I must admit I haven't had to program a ESC yet but I suppose theres always a first time!
  17. Hi Guys. I have just recently purchased a Dynam Waco. It flies really well. Only thing is when I blip the throttle closed to open quickly something strange happens to the motor. It start sort of oscillating and making a funny noise. When I close it down and open up again its okay. It was making the same noise sometimes when I first throttle up and I thought at first that it was maybe that the prop wasn't tight enough, so I put a star washer behind the prop to act as a driver. This didn't solve the problem though and as I have put a couple of washers under the top of the engine mount in order to increase the down thrust. Just wondering if this is a well known problem with Dynam motors or if something has got into the motor possibly when I installed the washers to increase the down thrust?
  18. Thanks Guys. Worked it out at last file:///Users/Phil/Desktop/IMG_0304.JPG.zipfile:///Users/Phil/Desktop/IMG_0305.JPG.zip .If you are able to open the above images you can see how I have set up screens 5 & 6 i.e. inputs and mixers. This is all I needed to set up my Taranis with the S6R receiver. Programming the receiver via the Config tool was a piece of cake and is really self explanatory. Just in case you can't read these zips, image 304 page 5/12.Inputs set Channel 9 Gain 100 S1 SC set Channel 10 Mode 100 SD SD set Channel 11 Mode 100 SC SC Page 6/12 Mixer set up i.e. image 305 Channel 9 100 S1 Gain Channel 10 100 SD Mode 1 Channel 11 100 SC Mode 2 Channel 12 hasn't been set because I have no problem installing the battery from the top hatch of my Waco and I didn't want to cause a possible mistake while the aircraft was airborne by activating it accidentally. I should mention that when the Stab setting is selected that it only controls Elevator and ailerons. Doesn't use Rudder. This only comes into play when in Auto stab. As you can see I used Switch D for channel 10 and Switch C for channel 11. Channel 9 was designated to S1 for variable control. The names I used for the controls can obviously be changed to whatever you fancy as can the switch selection if it doesn't suit. Only problem I have now is trying to configure S8R receiver, For my ic Spitfire, which doesn't seem to want to work with the STK usb I used to program the S6R. The aircraft now appears to functions correctly and all surfaces move in the correct direction but so far I have only tried it out on the ground. So when the wind stops howling I might get a flight in, in Windsor Park. Ill let you know how I get on. Regards Phil
  19. Hi Mike, I did notice when I set it up channel 9 that Auto Level worked okay in the neutral position, but there was no Yaw control until I adjusted channel 9 which I have on S1 to the 2 o'clock position. then it worked fine. It didn't appear to affect movement on any of the other surfaces tho. I haven't tried adjusting it to see if the Stabilization is effected. As far as I know that doesn't work. I'll give it a go tomorrow and come back to you. I hope thats all the problem is.
  20. Hey Andy. Yes The receiver is already tested and set up in my Dynam Waco. Without switching on the transmitter the receiver axis control works perfectly and all control surfaces move in the correct direction to compensate for movements. Its only when I switch on the transmitter that I find the 1st option i.e. Stabilization doesn't do anything.Automatic level works, Hover works, Knife edge works, off works. I think its just a question of adjusting values on position 1. Just off to check some flight videos to see if I can find what im missing
  21. Thanks Chris. When I get some time Ill have a go at it. These were the instructions direct from the S6R instruction manual.
  22. Its okay. Got it back. Frsky do a download for the content of the sd card and I took out the sd card from the tx and usb ed it to my laptop and just dragged and dropped. It had wiped out the sound and image files but once they were all back on, plugged back in and sound and images are all back. Just starting to wonder why I needed to connect it to a computer in the first place. What you can do on screen is more or less the same as you can do from within the menus on the comp program. I just need to find out why "Stabilization doesn't work ie Channel 10 switch (Down) and channel 11 switch (Mid). I think it has something to do with M=1500us represents neutral, H=50us represents the required signal change to activate the mode. > and < represents the required signal direction. It also says that when using the factory settings the the switch position shown represents the mode selection so I guess I need to use one of the screens to adjust these settings if I can find it and adjust them to 1500 and 50 accordingly.
  23. Well! Downloaded Opentx 2.1.9 for my Mac. Connected Taranis to My PC. Couldn't see any drive or plug ins on my PC and was unable to connect. Removed USB and Taranis would not close down. No response from the on off switch. In the end had to remove the battery to turn off. When I turned transmitter back on, No sound, also no model files. It would appear that the SD card has been wiped clean. Yes I can recover the SD files from Frsky but all I need to do now is how to put them back on the card in the Taranis. Unless you have the SD card configured in the program settings you can't open anything to put it on. As I said before I was worried about cocking it up and I have. Good news is that I downloaded 2.2version on my windows pc and it works. If only I could return the info to the SD card.
  24. Thanks for the encouragement. I have downloaded Open TX to my laptop and am now looking for *The Amber Transmitter Sound pack. I thought if I have to go into the TX program I may as well have some decent sounds to go with it. 633 squadron would be ideal for my Parkzone D H Mosquito if I could find it Many thanks for your help
  25. Hi Andy just downloaded open TX but feel a bit reluctant to connect it to my TX because I don't want to interfere with the current software as I might make a mistake and cock it up. I merely programmed the transmitter by activating channels 9,10,11,12 as per the S6R receiver instructions. Other than changing the values of the output neutral positions I can't see what the advantages are of using the Open TX program. It was fairly easy to program the S6R using S6R config program but im not sure I want to mess with the transmitter. My current software pack is 2.1.6
