  1. Hi Tony. Built the Sky 40 (electric version) and so as I am a learner got my club mates to try it out. All VERY impressed, also congrats on your thoughtfull design work in angleing the nosewheel forward. From experience this is a weak point on many trainers. Could you help though.. If I built a second one, will it take a 4 stroke ic motor and what size can I use. Yours Norman.
  2. Thanks Danny, Had thought about the Wot 4 but considered it may be a bit fast as a trainer. Did build theBonnie sports (RCM Pelikan kit) and all the better flyers were impressed when they flew it,BUT it was a bit too sporty and needed a long landing approach to hit the zone. Bent it a bit myself but in the end lost it through interference near a mobile phone mast. A pity really because I might have persisted with it and won.
  3. Hi bretheren, Has anyone built the Flair version of the Mk4 Kite?. This is a kit not an ARTF and I was wondering if anyone found this a quality kit and how it turned out as a trainer? I know it was extensively used by flying schools for a while but since then there may be better choices. Comments please Norman
  4. Hi Paul, I had one of those models but found a problem (unless they have since been modified). There was no rudder only ailerons which made flying a bit hectic so would advise 1. Check the centre of gravity very carefully. 2. Set the ailerons for reduced movement for first flights and 3. Dont wack the throttle up too much until you get the hang of it. It can fly faster than you think and needs rapid response from the sticks Hope this helps and good luck.
  5. Yes can understand the problem, as my club only has instructors available on odd days and when they are not there we rookies are not allowed to fly without buddy leads. This means no practice and I only get to use reflex training at home or use a local rec when its quiet and fly electric getting limited solo flying. I suppose your problem with mode use is now settled and you can go mode 2 as you wish.
  6. Congrats Shaun. Where did you take your A, was it at your club or did you attend a flying school? Still trying to get mine.
  7. Reading the mags one would assume there are loads of trainers in the dealers-NOT SO. Go on the internet and you will find only about 4 same models for sale and most are advertised but not in stock.Further they are tested by good flyers with experience,so lets please bung them on to more non licence holders to test. We dont want to know that a given trainer can fly all manner of stunts, all we need is will a suit a novice.
