  1. Bless you Pete, Many thanks for info as i did think i was going to be left with something i could not use. Having had so much success with a german unit in high wind flying i was desperate to use one on a larger aircraft for photo use. Yours Norman E
  2. Can anyone help? Just took delivery via HobbyKing of F-TEK 30A 3 axis staberlizer. No instruction sheet is supplied so I have found out, and the makers web site provides details but in a RAR folder which I cant decipher. Anyone out there possess an englishy copy. Would br gratefull for any info. Norman.
  3. Hi John, Make sure you have not selected Helicopter mode instead of acro. (plane). Check transmitter carefully to see if you have inadvertantly got another switch selected as well as the one your using. Also check that the switch you use for switching gyro on and off is not on same channel as used by ailerons tjo i suspect you are using Ch 1 on receiver and using splitter. If you still have a problem run through gyro set up again and try again. Norman
  4. Hi Yakmad, When using the DYMOND 3 axis gyro, it is important to set the gain pots (there is one for ail, rudder & elevs) to minimum, then gradually increase the gain on each untill the respective control moves slightly as the model is moved in the appropriate direction. DONT do this outdoors as any breeze will affect your setting up. Now if the respective servo judders or twitches the control then the gain is too high. Only small perceptable movements in the controls should be needed for first flight. Note also that with this gyro you can set up one switch on your tranny to give normal control (stabalized) or off or heading hold. For first try out, take off with it switched OFF, gain safe hight and switch on (AVC or normal position) and watch results. If needed switch off, land and readjust. Also note that when the desired stable flight is obtained, when you switch your receiver switch on the model at startup and normal is selected first, hold the model level for several seconds as the gyro senses a level position then the controls will click into their center positions ready for taxying or carrying it out to runway. Hope this mouthfull is helpfull. Norman-E
  5. Hi all, cant comment on the Hobbyking gyros because could not get my hands on one. However purchased a Dymond 3 axis unit from Germany and not wishing to try it out on anything special I fitted it in an aircraft made from several other models. It flew quite well but had a nasty habit of going a bit mad when turning into wind. After fitting this gyro the trtansformation was amazing. It was stable in all conditions and laughs at strongish winds. Can rtecommend this unit to anyone wanting to venture in.
  6. Ah chaps, think I need help here. My acro wot diagram shows fuel pipes from tank going UP to hole at top of bulkhead. As all my other models have pipes going out through centre of engine mount which is the correct approach?
  7. Am i the oldest to yet to try for my A? Been at it for 3 years now but due to lack of examiners been a difficult time. Can take off do all my circuits, land correctly and set up and build any type of aircraft. What age I hear you ask- 84 this year but still hoping. Why do I bother? well i have been promissed a 14MZ by the family when I pass..
  8. Age 83 !! Sport ic Electric-various Started age 16 (still going)
  9. Thanks John! Never thought to use blue tack in the threads of the blind nut before. You have no idea how many times I got epoxy on the threads and swore. Brilliant move..
  10. I agree with Bob Vaughan, I also fly a Flair Kite but mine has an OS 52 4 stroke in it and flies in most windy conditions. Have not suffered any tip stalls to date and apart from higher landing speed has proved good in any condition. Built from a trad kit, it resembles a tank in strength.
  11. Hi Richard, I read about the new plugs from  Model Technics but dont know where to obtain them. They are wholesalers and supply "good model shops" but try finding one! If you know-your help please . Norman _E
  12. Just imagine, warm summer evenings, slow flying, and the smoothness of a large cub- Yes please!
  13. Hi John, When I worked for a relay cable company some years back now, people with cable tv complained of patterning from short wave (ham) transmitters. To stop this we used ferrite rings with aerial lead passed through rings as much as we had room for, then refitted aerial lead plug back in. This worked fine and suppressed this high frequency interference even when the "ham" transmitter was near. Same principle works on speed controller leads keeping ring as near to receiver as you can. Not needed on 2.4 Ghz as operating system is different. Hope this helps.     If any one knows where a supply of small ones can be obtained I need to know. The large ones are heavy and play havoc with the c of g!! Norman_E
  14. Darn good video, but I got a bit worried at the end looks like your landing patch was on the moon. Hope your plane survived. Love to see some more film like that Norman-E
  15. thanks Timbo, I can sleep easy in my bed tonight. By the way the c of g of my Sky 40 was way out, having borrowed an alignment kit I found the nose WAY down. This was due to a nasty arrival some time back which damaged the cowl. So I treated it to a dose of lightweight glass and resin only at that far forward on the nose I was amazed at the result. Moved battery back and it looked happier- roll on a calm day Thanks to all who helped.. Norman_E
  16. Thanks Jetsome, will check all of these points, but when you say the c of g could be too far forward, does this mean the nose is lighter or heavier? I am trying to visualize whether the c of g moves forward when the nose is lighter or the other way round. Sorry to appear a bit thick but still struggling at 81! Yours Norman_E
  17. Thanks Jetsome a really usefull explanation and helps me to get to grips with the subject. In a way following on from this, you may be able to advise on my Sky 40 trainer.Thiswas one of tony`s designs and I have the leccy version. My model needs lots of up to gain height and after ataining height if you shut down power and centre controls it loses height rapidly. The wing incidence and tailplane positions are designed in so only C of G can be altered. Now this last point is by the instructions, hence my query. Any ideas? (power is NO problem) Thanks again. Norman_E
  18. I need a different approach to this C of G problem and am looking for an answer. Taking a model where the c of G is set correctly, if you add weight to the nose, what effect does this have on the handling then? conversly reducing weight would have what effect?. I need to approach things this way to get an idea of effect on changing the c of g will have. Your help please fellas! Norman_E
  19. Thanks Myron, Will try that next time and for the time being while testing will leave the cowl off to get at it all. If your idea works for me can at last try this new model out. Thanks again,  Norman
  20. Ah so at last someone with a cowled OS52. This being so can anyone enlighten me about starting these easily as you cant stick a digit over the carb to prime it and to me it takes ages before firing up even with a starter. Or is there a knack? Your help pleasde Norman
  21. Hi, Anyone out there got either the model or plans of one of the above models?. Sadly in a cleanout I no longer have the C of G position having disposed of the plan. Kit was made by Balsa Cabin originally, can anyone help please? Norman
  22. Thank you Tony, Going to try your suggestion re OS52. Thanks once again. Norman
  23. Hi Myron, In answer top your query "what is a Sky 40" its a trainer designed by Tony Nujhius and was recently reviewed and a plan inserted with RCM&E magazine. Its a corker with AXI motor up front which was the version i built. It was so well received by fliers at my club who put it through the mill that i decided to build another but this time IC powered, hence my comments on possible 4 stroke. yours Norman
  24. Yes hello Myron. Perhaps I could have worded it better but was still wodering if a Sky 40 will work with an OS 52. Cant say what it would fly like with an .40 in it cos my first build was as electric model. Go`s like stink though. Norman
  25. Hello Tony Nijhius, Sorry to be a pest but I can find no answer to my query but appear to have about 8 email notifications. My query was (apart from congrats on design of Sky 40) if I built another one can I fit a 4 stroke in it? And if so what would suggest? Thanks again Norman
