  1. Thankyou all for your helpful advice. I may come back to you later kc for your offer of the relevant article (thanks btw) but for now I'll do some more research. The Outerzone PT-20 plan by G. Gannon I see was published in August 1954 so I'm wondering if it significantly predates Phil Kent's plan (as you may be inferring) which I agree could make the latter a better choice. Thanks Frank, appreciate your suggestion. It IS a bit far for me to catch them. Traplet do appear to have a presence here in Australia but it seems to be on the east coast and I'm in the SW corner (Perth). Also I haven't heard any suggestions that they are active in the model acft shows as you mention is the case in the U.K. Cheers
  2. Thanks kc, I'll follow that up in the morning. It's fast approaching my bedtime down 'ere in the antipodes. Cheers John
  3. Thanks for your impressively quick responses guys. Yes it is an expensive exercise to buy a plan just to determine if it's suitable for my building skills (and how true to scale). A reduced image on a website would make it an easier decision up front but I guess that's the commercial world we live in. Like you Peter I have found references to Phillip Kent but I didn't see anything on Geoff Cannon. I'm leaning towards the former but I might contact the distributor to see if they can offer previews though unfortunately I think it's just a publishing business and model plans are simply another product line for them. Cheers John
  4. Hi Apologies if this general question has been covered elsewhere. I'm planning on a conventionally built Ryan STA (or close relative) and I'm torn between two plans, one is a 60" w/span PT-20 by Geoff Cannon and the other, a 63" w/span STA/M by Phillip Kent who I believe is associated with the Brighouse Model Aircraft Club of West Yorkshire. Both plans are distributed by trapletshop.com who don't seem to offer any previews. Before I "lash out" on one of these I'm wondering if any members of the forum have had any experience with any plans from either or both of these designers. Regards from Down under John
