1. Ah! I didn't realise it's not the transmitter that dictates range! I automatically assumed it's "how far it transmits"! Thanks for all your help as usual. I've converted my five cell to a four, and next time I order some parts - I'll order a smaller futaba style copy, then I will always have a spare battery. Thanks again Neil
2. Thanks for all the info! I'll think I'll remove a cell on this pack and also order a life battery as suggested - that way I'll have a spare battery pack for the transmitter. Do I simply remove a cell? Or will I need to short/conect the ends out? Not sure how to word it So are there no advantages (eg increased range) to running the transmitter on the higher voltage?
3. Hi, I foolishly rushed out and purchased a 5 cell nimh battery pack for my transmitter... Only to find it doesn't fit. It look - although it will fit a 4 cell no problem, a 5 cell would have to be not as tall. Any idea what these packs are called or what it is I should be looking for? Cash is a little tight at the moment so I'm just looking at basic nimh. Regards Neil
4. Who knew fuel was such a thing ehEdited By Neil Orangepeel on 28/10/2017 19:56:02
5. Thanks guys for all your input and opinions! I'm going to ditch the duraglo, and stick to the Irvine and techpower as I know I can get these easily and cheaply, and within minutes. Am I right in thinking an OS#8 glow plug is fine for my engine?   Edited By Neil Orangepeel on 28/10/2017 01:58:00
6. I'm sure there are a thousand "which is the best fuel" questions - so please don't throw rotten fruit I have a new SC 46 engine for my trainer and I am wondering which of these (easy for me to obtain) fuels I should, or shouldn't be using? Or does It not really matter? 1. Duraglo 2. Model Technics Irvine 3. Model Technics TechPower Thanks in advance for your advice. Neil
7. Great stuff! I think I'll get the same battery again for my futaba 8j receiver as it came with a secondhand 4.8v in it and I don't know how reliable it is.
8. Thanks for your all your help guys! really appreciate it! One more quick one.. I'm using a 6v 2200mah nimh battery in the plane, that should do the job, shouldn't it? Many thanks Neil
9. Great so, if I go with the front mount - something like this with straws and foam?
10. Hi Frank, thanks for the help! Never could get the hang of image attachments
11. Hi everyone, I've just started with model aircraft (after a previous brief stint 20 years ago), and would like some advice with positioning my receiver in my trainer if possible? I've attached three images showing some approximate positions to see what you guys think. I'd make sure that the antennas would be at 90 degrees and I'd slide them into straws to hold them in place. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks Neil
