  1. I've got a 25cc petrol engine going spare that would suit this nicely - yes please.
  2. Yes please, because I really haven't got enough to do!
  3. Jetsome, The video arrived today, thank you again.  Now I just need to dig the video player out of the loft!  By the way, it's a long time since someone called me a lad! Andrew
  4. Ralph, Thankyou very much for the kind offer, it is much appreciated but as you have read, Jesome has kindly posted the video to me.  I'll keep you posted on the build but if you need to know more about EDF then I can highly recommend www.rcgroups.com who have a very active EDF forum.  This page http://myhobbycity.com/showthread.php?t=351 is full of fan tests (albeit from one retailer) and is a mine of information.  Finally, at the risk of promoting the "opposition" RCMF have an excellent build thread for a Westwings Hawk here:http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,52391.0/topicseen.html. Jetsome, Thanks again, if you're sure about the postage I'll donate a couple of pounds to charity anyway - now where's that video player!  As an aside I have contacted Paul Gray about the Hawk and he has offered some advice on the build.  He frequents the RC Universe site and still appears to have contact with Jim Fox who in turn is producing EDF and turbine jets from Thailand.  There is a thread for a Paul Gray build of a Jim Fox composite Hawk on the RC Universe site. I've now got the measurements and details for the wings from the plan and have contacted Barry at www.foamwings.co.uk who willl cut and veneer the flying surfaces for me for, what appears to be a reasonable price.  I have a copy of the RCME article from 1991 whic h will be very helpful so things are coming together. This is looking to be an exciting build thanks to all the help I have received on here. Andrew
  5. Hello Jetsome, Thank you for your very kind offer - this site would appear to have more than its fair share of generous members.  I would love to have the video of the Hawk build and will gladly pay the postage and packing; I'll send you a messge with my address, please let me know how you would like to receive payment - I'd be happy to PayPal it to you if necessary. This will be my first ducted fan model too, these plans have been kicking around for too long for be to ignore now that there have been significant advances in batteries and motors  not least the price of such technology.  The Hawk will be fitted with a 4" (102mm) fan with a 1200k/v outrunner motor and a 6S 5000mah LiPo pack; based on my calculations that should give me in the region of 2.3kg of thrust.  If I build the airframe light - around 4lbs - that should be enough to gently propel the Hawk around the skies!  The formers have now been transferred into autocad and lightening holes added.  Given that I don't need to be too worried by IC engine vibration, I'm planning to get the formers CNC's from 3 and 2mm ply.  Hopefully the wings will be cut next week and I'll be good to go once I've completed my GAD BAC Lightning. Andrew
  6. Whistler, Thanks.  It would be useful to get hold of that article.  Do you know where I can get hold of an edition that old? I'm hoping that Chris Channon will get back to me soon if his offer of the canopy is still open.  Things are progressing well - the fan and motor should arrive soon, the wings are being cut from foam blocks and the formers will be CNC'd as soon as I work out the modifications required fo the Fan Swept Area, I've even got a pilot! Andrew
  7. Chris, That's outstanding.  Yes, I'll take it off your hands.  How do you want payment?  I could PayPal it to you asap if you want. Andrew
  8. It does, thanks, but only inasmuch as I now know when the plan was published and when the accompanying article (I assume) came out.  Do you have a copy that I could take a facsimile of?  My plan is a bit later than this, dated 1991 and I wonder if the revised plan (apparently the 1991 design flies better) was reviewed and published?  I would still like to find out if any accessories (canopy) are available for the Hawk. Thanks for your time. Andrew
  9. I've got some plans dated 1991 I bought in 1993 for a DF BAE Hawk using a Thorjet 120mm fan and an OS46 VRDF.  Plan is to convert this to EDF either using an Air Power 120mm fan for the WeMoTec 90mm fan and a suitable (read economic) motor that will provide the requisite power on a 6 or 8S Lipo.  The plan was designed by Paul Gray and Jim Fox; I've been in touch with Paul who tells me that the plan was featured in or released by RCM&E and that a plans pack was available.  Now, I'm having the plan converted to Autocad and the formers CNC'd but what I really need is a canopy.  Anyone point me in the right direction or know whether RCM&E might have one sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere?  I don't even know if it was a feature in the magazine, would be good if it was and, again, if anyone can point me in the right direction for a copy.  Regards Andrew
  10. I'm not the Andy Green that keeps winning, must be his namesake's turn!  This will complement my Green Air Deisgns Lightning nicely!
