What TWO Clever Ideas Sorted my Mini Lidl 4 Prop Plane?

Weight is absolutely nothing! It's 100g all up weight with 200mA 2s. One tiny little BEC, two brushed motor esc's, 2 x 2g servos, 4 x 8520 brushed motors, FS2A rx Go for it! -
Interesting, I've been messing about with a mini Lidl and a rechargeable motor from a foamie biplane free flight cheapie. But only as free flight. As you say, thrust angle is the hard part to get right. I discovered that when I built a pusher version of the standard size Lidl glider. The advice online didn't work and thrust line had to be much higher than suggested. Yours is higher still! Re the small gliders, I guess you haven't seen my 4 motor version that I have finally sorted? 100g AUW, 200mA 2s and loads of flight time. 3A BEC, 2 brushed ESC's

They are just so good for experimenting with. And dead cheap, plus easily repairable with a hot glue gun. Must say though after 15 or 16 RC conversions of the full size one, and 6 small ones, I'm running out of ideas now. Just a small point I wonder what the ratio of children to modellers of a certain age is buying these from Lidl. I'd bet mostly adults! 😁

My Lidl Easy Rider Trainer is now finished. It's my no 16 big Lidl build, my first high wing design and it flies like a dream. Quick build blog here, and full maiden is linked at the end. Didn't take long to build, trickiest part is hot glueing the top wing on and getting if lined up in 3 planes, but you have time to position it as the glue sets. The intention was zero zero with the slot in the fusi. It's my first green Lidl, this years colour, though I wouldn't recommend green for a beginner plane as it's not very easy to spot when you accidentally put it in the bushes! Someone asked me on YouTube for an update on my efforts to turn a Lidl cheap foamie and a Bixler into FPV machines and start FPV flying, so here it is! Plus a couple of lessons learned and mistakes I've made on the way. In particular, the perils of choosing the wrong kind of connectors. I'm now a whisker away from fixed wing FPV flying!

A while back I built a mini-Lidl cheap foamie 4 motor plane with the idea of using differential thrust for yaw control instead of ailerons. It was a fail. Converted it to aileron, but it was still uncontrollable. The flight tests are here. And no, it wasn't a mix on my TX , and CG was OK. 😉 I was very surprised when my tests later revealed a problem I'd never seen before! But no surprise why it was such a pig to fly though. A bit of a lesson here.

Something a bit different from me this time. I was sent this little twin-rotor beginner helicopter for review and it's fun. I've got a few small helis, but I've never seen one with a missile launcher on it before! It's the WL V398-C Missile Aircraft, 6 axis gyro, altitude hold, which works well and it flew nicely, quite stable. It's described as an indoor flyer but I flew it outside on a calm day and it was OK. Could be fun if you had a mate with one, you could have battles shooting missiles at each other. My test flights are at 5m16s including an outdoor test and landing pad challenge! I got it from Razordon who are big helicopter sellers, but seems to be available in a few versions under different badges from £30 to £40.

After 14 Lidl cheap foamie RC conversions, finally, here's my first Lidl pusher! Can't say I've had much success with pushers in the past, but after going against the online advice of the desired thrust angle and changing it to more like my Bixler's angle she flies well. Test flight is in the video as well as build details.

Windy day at my strip, but I'd planned to test return to home on a flight controller I'd installed, so I went for it. I'm new to this kind of technology and was feeling a bit anxious, hence I made a mistake. The idea was get some height, position aircraft well upwind, and first off hit 'loiter' and then check the fpv signal on some goggles I'd brought with me. Trouble was, when the plane was a long way off I flicked the wrong switch on my tx (as I didn't dare look down at it) and before I'd realised my mistake the plane had flown away. I'd lost sight of it! Sick feeling in my stomach as I gazed into the distance, plus a real panic moment. Would it actually work? ☹️. Some nice aerial footage in my video.

First there was the Lidl glider, then there was the Mini Lidl, then Mini Mini Lidl, now at 26cm the Mini Mini Mini Lidl. It's a pusher, with motor an prop and recharges. Is anyone man enough to convert one of these to RC control?
