The KV, konstant velocity, rating of a BL motor is at no-load, no propeller fitted. When the motor is running with a prop the RPM will be lower. I've seen it at 80% or 75%. Any lower and the motor could be over-loaded. Is there a way of knowing the on-load speed when planning a new set-up ? Regards John

Hi. Sorry but I got waylaid for a few days. The Irvine 53 is running fine now, I used small bit of silicon gasket sealant at the exhaust flange. I'll have the model finished soon and try it in the air. On a another point, often the engine mounting set screws need to be longer than the space between the exhaust flange and the mounting lug, the head of the screw won't go past the exhaust flange. I've fitted the screws from underneath, i.e. with the nuts on top. Are there any other suggestions? I don't want to grind half the head off ! Regards John

Hi Martin. I'll check it at different orientations tomorrow. I think the engine has had very little running time, the piston head is quite clean. The exhaust gasket burned out when I ran it, perhaps I didn't tighten the silencer enough. Have you any suggestions for a material to use for a gasket ? Thanks John

Hi. Recently I was given a model with an Irvine 53 engine. I ran the engine and a lot of black muck came out of the exhaust to silencer joint. Looking inside I found the bearings were rusty, it had been lying around for too long. I've cleaned it up and fitted new bearings. When I turn over the engine, without the backplate or the glow plug fitted, I can see and feel the big end 'click' as it goes over TDC. Do I need to change the big end bearing, or put an extra shim under the head, or would metal expansion when it's running alleviate the problem. Regards, John

Hi. Thanks for all the answers. I've found that Curve Rate is the 'Y' axis and Curve Point is the 'X' axis. (0) is the Tx stick minimum position and (100) the maximum, so they're not adjustable. By changing the Curve Point to something like this Stick Position. Curve Rate Curve Point 5 100 (100) 4 75 75 3 50 28 2 25 25 1 0 (0) The servo arm does a sudden large movement from one position to another. Y axis, Curve Rate l ------------- l / l / l l l l < Servo Arm l---l-------------- X axis, Curve Point l l l / l / l/ ----------------------------- By changing the Curve Rate to something like this (and putting the Curve Point back to original values) Stick Position. Hi. I'm trying to understand the Throttle Curve set-up on my T12K. It is in the Contents list as (Air / Glider / Multirotor) The plane is a four channel trainer, Seagull Models, Arising Star. I know I don't need a Throttle Curve for it but I want to know how the menu works. The menu shows Stick Position. Curve Rate Curve Point 5 100 (100) 4 75 75 3 50 50 2 25 25 1 0 (0) The Curve Point seems to alter the Tx Throttle Stick Position, I think. What does the Curve Rate do ? Why are there two adjustments ? Surely you could just adjust the RPM by using the Curve Point on the Stick position. Regards John McClean

Hi. Is it possible to create words, pictures, decals etc on a PC and print them on an ink jet printer on some type of film which could then be put on the model ? The film would need to be transparent so you don't need to cut out the design, just a rectangle around it so the covering shows through. It would obviously need to be fuel proofed. Regards John
