  1. As it looks so much like the good old Sharkface (which I am going to build again anyway), why not call it              The Lectrosharke or maybe a slight mod and call it The Electrosharke. The original Sharkface was a great design and flew extremely well in anyones hands, I know 'cos I built one years ago when all we had was single channel. I have already scaled up the original Sharkface to approx 32" span and will build it over the winter unless of course I win this model. TomR
  2. Having registered with BFPVMFA in mid September I have yet to hear from them regarding membership number etc. Anyone else still waiting? Tom R
  3. As a postscript to my previous comments, I have joined my local club and will be 'learning' on the club trainer, which is IC, but I don't see any problem in flying Elec with my own models. Besides, as I'm retired I hope to travel around to some of the events once I've got my 'A' cert and Elec will be easier to cart around in the back of the car and keeping batteries charged up etc. should not be a problem either. Any comments? Tom R
  4. I think you got it right Gemma. I have recently come back to R/c model flying and although I still have my old but very good Multuplex outfit which uses the standard modules - I have 27Mhz, 35Mhz and one other for use in say Germany - and it is a very powerful set but I too have a problem. Do I stay IC or go Elec? I can afford to restart and go totally electric and 2.4Ghz and currently am considering the offer from Gliders Distribution to trade in a Futaba 35Mhz set that has never been flown. I considered trading it in a while ago but did not get a very good offer, even when I included the 4 servos so the GD offer sounds OK and I keep my unused Futaba servos. I will have to go back to square one as far as flying is concerned anyway so why not do this with the lot. I think I've just about talked myself into going all out Electric, don't you! Tom R
  5. I am a Golden Oldie coming back to the hobby after several years off due to ill health and this model would give me a 'flying start'. It would make my Christmas should I be lucky. Tomr
  6. Hi Danny, Have been following your discourse with Mike as I too am coming back to the hobby after several years away and am thinking in terms of Electric although I do have some engines(diesel & glow,3 are NIB)which I could use to get started. My R/c gear is as shown on my profile and I don't posess any elec. stuff at all, so it is start from square one time. I also need flight training 'cos I'm really out of touch. Hope I can join a local club for expert tuition etc. Thanks for your advice Mike on where to buy etc. Any other tips very welcome. Tom Richardson.
