  1. Ordered the ARF version this morning funnily enough. Not much point having retracts unless you have a nice smooth expanse of concrete to T/O and land on -(lighter too) so belly landing it will be. Should be a hoot.
  2. A National Site and museum sounds like a non starter to me. A tiny proportion of the BMFA membership would use it yet all members would be funding it. It would inevitably push up the membership fees which would reduce the already dwindling numbers who are members.

Unless it could be proved that it would serve the disabled or socially disadvantaged young it is unlikely to gain lottery funding.

It may sound like a nice idea to some but to make it a reality you have to ask yourself the questions, what purpose would it serve, who is going to pay for it and maintain it?
  3. Robin, Toe-out is bad from a ground handling point of view. When the gear is down the wheels should be aligned with the aircraft centerline. This being the case and from your drawing, it would seem that when the gear is retracted the wheels do not sit level in the wheel wells (if you see what I mean). That is my 'take' on toe-out anyway!

Looking forward to seeing this project in the flesh so to speak.

  4. Hi Tim, what a great model, your Courier is now definitely on my 'build list'. Any news of a CNC wood pack becoming available soon and perhaps a vac-formed canopy and coul too? If not I would be tempted to scale it up a tad. Bigger is better!
  5. I like the plan Peter, a little bit different, so I am looking forward to it as my winter build. I have a new OS 30 4S lurking in my shed looking for a home and wondered if it might be suitable for the Luciole? A little heavier than the 21 you used but then the design needed three Oz of lead in the nose for the C of G. Would the front end need a little beefing with the four stroke? I am considerind an electric alternative which might work with the right motor/battery combo. Decisions, decisions!

  6. I was hoping that a twin would win but I suppose this is problematical for the average modeler, especially in an IC model-more expensive too. Mass appeal is important for magazine sales (and wood and canopy sales too) so a single it is.  The Lizzy will be interesting and challenging to build even with a lazer cut kit etc. It's not not the most beautiful aeroplane ever to grace the skies but beauty, they say, is in they eyes of the beholder and I am sure Tony will produce another great design.

  7. I built a Pete Nicolson Bearcat from a plan pack before BC started kitting them. Great design, flew well with a Jeti Phasor BL motor, even on eight sub C nicads (even if it was a little heavy). Would be transformed with a modern out-runner and 3s LiPo;-must try that sometime!
I built a BC Spit too but it has not flown to date. Both fun builds and strong models too. I have an unbuilt  BC Blenheim in my loft as well but I won't be selling that on e-bay, it can await my retirement!
  8. The Hawker Sea Fury was one of the few piston-engined fighter aircraft to shoot down a Jet; a Mig 15 on the 9th August 1952 over Korea. The Seagull Sea Fury is a great model which would make a good electric conversion, especially as I already have a suitable power train! Here's hoping.
