  1. If I won this, Mr. Ashby........I'd promise not to fly this one backwards into cow pat.
  2. To Nick Spencer, your invalid pixel format with the z buffer error is a DirectX issue, I think. If you go to this link... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms794069.aspx That should explain it in as much detail as you like. Basically, the latest DirectX should sort it. I like FMS...better still...its free and you can do all sorts with it. What I mean is..it's very tweekable and there's loads of stuff available for free download. Ive tried a couple of sim demos and think that FMS is as good as anything for learning the ropes on. Hope the directX link helps you out..if you have any troublr, I'll be happy to help. ( If I can)lol
  3. Hi Spence, Have you got a program called WinRar? It's freely available for down load ( if you haven't got it you'll find loads of links for it on Google). What I do is save these .rar files to a folder on my desktop and then unzip the lot in one go. I copy these to the Planes folder in the root directory...C:\Program Files\FMS\Model typically. If you still have trouble with this I'll be glad to lend a hand. Do you have a bit torrent client?
  4. Hi all, I just wanted to plead the virtues of FMS as a simulator. The beauty of it is that it gets better all the time. With it being in the public domain, there are alot of talented people out there providing some tasty aircraft and other addons for FMS. Anybody that purchased E - Sky can take advantage of this. There are some excellent links on the FMS website and all the downloads are free. The other sims are slicker, but you can't beat FMS for value. There are some great planes here: http://lotus49b.hp.infoseek.co.jp/download.html Mustangs, Spits, all sorts....but no Sea Fury. If anyone knows of a Sea Fury for FMS................. Cheers all
  5. Thanks for that, Colin. I will do.
  6. Hi Geronimo. I read the other day an article on an American site about a builder who had similar problems using the wifes iron. His wife suggested rubbing the hot iron with an anti static fabic conditioner called 'Bounce'. Its the type that gets added to the tumble dryer. He reported that it worked a treat. I am reluctant to try it myself as my wife promised to shrink all my clothes and wash my shirts with her red knickers if I ever touched her iron. I dont know about getting rid of the marks. But the 'Bounce' remedy does work.
  7. Hi Chris, Thanks for that...much appreciated. I've drawn it out to fax off to Just Engines. I did have a quick look through the web site there but I couldn't find any reference to Blue Bird motors. I'll thoroughly bench test it before it gets fitted. I wont be trusting my plane to anything remotely unreliable. Thanks again, Chris.
  8. Just had a look at that Fury. Looks good. Fitted flaps too. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for, but I want the challenge of building that from plans. Plenty of time to think about that. Got to learn to fly yet. lol. Looking forward to that
  9. Hi Danny. 80" sounds reasonable...Ive always had a soft spot for the hurri. I'm just building a small scale Sea Fury and a quite fancy having a crack at a large scale version. Will have a look at electric flying. I find myself getting absorbed by the hobby all the time. Who knows where it'll lead to. Thanks again for the advice. I'm just drawing the exhaust aperture/manifold now to fax off to Just Engines. Cheers!
  10. HI Danny. Thanks for that. I suppose I should have thought of that. I did check out their web site but I didn't find any reference to the Bue Bird. I did find out that they were marketed as Brat at one point. I am well pleased with the Arising Star. Once I've got the radio and motor and field box sorted out I'll join a club then. Eventually, I'd like to attempt a large scale project.....but these things have to be done over a period of time, as the large scale family and mortgage must come first! lol Thanks again, Danny. 11. Hi all....Hope someone can help. I bought an unused Blue Bird .46 2 stroke motor for my Arising Star that I hope to start learning to fly with later on this year. I got the motor from ebay ( an ebay bargain!). However, the silencer was not included in the sale. Perhaps it went missing! I've searched the internet to try and find somewhere to get hold of a muffler but had no luck as yet. Can anyone help me?? I supppose its entirely possible that there could be similar exhausts that could be modified slightly to fit? I would appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Many thanks
  12. Hi all. I hope to start flying soon. I've built a few rubber power kits that have steadily got better, the last 2 actually flew! Anyway, I've invested in an Arising Star. I bought it mail order and was pleasantly suprised at the build quality for the money (being on a budget and all). I bought the plane only, hoping to aquire the engine and radio as I went along. I bought a .46 engine without the muffler. The engine itself has never been used (an ebay bargain). Its a Bluebird Power Plus 2 stroke(still in the box). I've searched the internet but without success, for a silencer and other spares. Does anyone know of any mufflers that would fit the bill or similar to the point of being modified??
