  1. Quick update. I have had to send the Gyro back to get a replacement as i am (and the shop owner is) 90% certain that it is faulty. Chris i have tried what you said, i took out the gyro, got everything set up as normal and checked all the control surfaces for correct movement and direction. Then when i re introduced the gyro, again nothing happens, the gyro will not initialise and i have no control of any of the surfaces. Thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions.
  2. Posted by Chris Jones 7 on 21/07/2015 17:00:32: There should be a TX calibration tab somewhere in Baseflight. I don't use it myself but I do need to download it so I'll have a look and get back to you. How is your receiver connected to the board? Is it linked normally ie one channel one servo plug or by cppm or one servo plug does them all? Honestly i'm not sure. I'm new to everything Quads so i am still learning all the correct terminology. Hopefully these pictures will help answer your question.

  6. The flight controller on this is a Skyline32 which is integrated on to the main board. I have been messing with Baseflight but the only option that allows me to switch modes does not change anything to do with the channels.
  7. Posted by Ben Kelly on 19/07/2015 19:30:43: Thanks for all the replies. I can get used to flying Mode 2 for the Quad but as i said in my original post i don't want to end up flying one of my planes, wanting to do an aileron roll and basing over the rudder or the opposite with the quad. I am going to try and change it through OpenPilot. I originally tried swapping it with the Baseflight configurator that is recommended in the instructions but its worth giving them both a go. Thanks, Ben Ok so quick update, OpenPilot couldn't find the Quad when it was plugged in. It seems my options seem to be to try and sort it through Baseflight Configurator or simply learn to fly with the Rudder and Aileron switched around.
  8. Right, i know its been a bit delayed but my update on my Gyro fiasco is short and simple. I still can't get it to work. I'm even trying another FrSky receiver just incase but that gets the same results. At this point i'm really stumped and i have no idea where to go next.

  10. Hi all, I have flown a few small multi-rotors previously but i have just taken the plunge and bought myself a Emax Nighthawk 250 arf quad. I have set everything up as per the instructions and i have had it flying beautifully. (Although at this point i'm only in the hovering stage and trying to keep my orientation). Now my question.... Can i switch the quad from being Mode 2 to Mode 1?? I ask this as i currently fly FW and i don't want to be getting myself into any sticky situations because of a momentary lapse of concentration where i apply aileron instead of rudder. I use a Taranis X9D plus and i have tried swapping the channels around in the mixing page so that rudder is channel 4 and aileron is channel 1 but this actually grounds my quad and it wont spin up. I've also tried simply swapping the connections round in the receiver (X8R) and this has the same results. if anyone knows of a way i can do this then it would be a lot of help to me. Thanks, Ben.
  11. I'll have to wait until after the weekend to try again now as I've got all my planes currently set up and ready for the Greenacres fun fly this weekend. Thanks again to everyone for the help and I'll keep you posted with the results. Ben.
  12. I'll be there with a couple of new models. Getting everything sorted out tonight so that i don't forget anything important like a Tx or fuel haha. I can only make the Saturday as i'm working Sunday so i am keeping everything crossed for a nice weekend. Plenty of pictures and maybe a couple of videos to come.
  13. Ok Chris i will try again with the Tx further away. The Rx did keep going from green to red and the radio saying that the telemetry was lost which actually made me question whether i'd want to use it in my models with it struggling for a signal at such a short range. Thanks, Ben
  14. Wow, thanks for the instructions Chris. I have followed them and now I have the switch registered as a channel. My next problem is difficult to describe so here is a video I filmed to show you. I know my gyro isn't secured in the plane yet but I wanted to test it out before any fixings were made. Again, any help greatly appreciated. https://youtu.be/JJMSuDj1xYY (Sorry, on mobile so I can't link it properly)Edited By Ben Kelly on 08/07/2015 23:43:43
  15. Yeah, i wasn't sure whether it would be the mixing page or the inputs page. It's taking some time to get used to this radio because it is such a big change from my old 6EX. It was the Gyro instructions that were confusing me too as they are not the easiest to follow. As far as i'm aware the gyro is constantly switched on but the 'Off' position on whatever 3 way switch i select should just bypass the gyro. i was trying to set it up last night but the gyro would not initialize and i think this is because the receiver could not tell the gyro what switch to use. Hopefully i can get a chance this evening to sit and go through it step by step.
  16. Hi Chris, I will be doing this n the Tx screen so that in future i know how to set something up if i'm at the field. I would really appreciate you taking the time to post the instructions. Thanks, Ben.
  17. Thanks AJ I'll have a look at those videos. Nothing I have tried searching for has brought me a result yet but it's worth a try.
  18. Hi all, I have recently purchased a Taranis X9D to replace my old futaba radio however i wanted to know if anyone here could help me set up my Multiplex Multi Gyro G3 with the new radio. I am being baffled by how to set up a 3 way switch to lets say, channel 5, to set the gyro to the 'Off' 'Stabilise' and 'Heading Hold' settings and the gyro is not even recognising any switch inputs. If anyone can give me some step by step instructions it would be amazingly helpful. Thanks, Ben.
  19. I had exactly the same problem after I bought a copy from Weston park. My solution was to load another CD/DVD Rom that you know the pc will read, then eject that and try the Phoenix CD again. It might not work for you but it's worth a try. Ben.
  20. Posted by MattyB on 26/06/2015 00:17:34: No, not unless you get a FASST module for the slot in the back of the Taranis. You are better off selling your FASST RXs and replacing them with FrSky ACCST ones. Thanks for the answer Matty, I assumed this would be the case and what with the cost of FrSky receivers being pretty cheap in comparison to my old Futaba Fasst ones it would certainly benefit me to change them all, Thanks. Ben.
  21. Hi all, I'm not wishing to hijack the thread but i just have a simple question that someone here might be able to shed some light on. I have been flying with a futaba 6ex and i have a couple of FrSky fasst compatible Rx. I am looking at getting a Taranis X9D plus and wanted to know if my current Rx would work with this Tx or would i have to change the receivers over?? Thanks, Ben
  22. Congratulations Ryan. Now you can really start pushing yourself to the limit. Ben
  23. Here is a little snippet of my new 30cc Extra 260 a few days ago at the club shortly before the engine died and a had to bring it down in the long grass.
  24. I'm hosting a session if anyone fancies joining in. Search: ModelFlying password: forum See you there.
  25. I have to agree with CS above. When i started flying i was about 12/13 because my dad was flying and i had always had an interest in Aeroplanes and flight. When i got to 15/16 i stopped flying because of school exams and when i left school, getting a job. This meant that at the time i couldn't afford to keep up the hobby. Now i am 26, One of the youngest at the club, i have a job i actually enjoy with decent pay, I have a fiancee who supports and encourages my interests and i have a beautiful 5 month old daughter and it is only now that i have got myself back into the hobby after this 10 year break, all because i can afford it and i find more pleasure spending a few hours at the flying field than out with my friends drinking the night away. I do believe that the clubs that go with the times and adapt to the new types and styles of RC flying are the ones that will attract the younger generation and they will survive the longest. I do with my club would allow multi-rotor aircraft but it is FW only and i think that restricts them in a lot of ways. Ben
