  1. Finally maidened her. High quality photos and videos here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729311 Thank you Nigel. I'm not sure I'll do one again (too much hard work) but it was an experience.
  2. Just need to do a range check and a 5 min dry run before maiden http://www.modelflying.co.uk/gallery/images.asp?sp=&v=5&UAbN=288
  3. It's taken about 40 hours to get here. Covered it over the weekend ready for final assembly and electronics install. http://www.modelflying.co.uk/members/MyGallery.asp?sp=&v=1 I'm going to hinge the ailerons and elevator with tape. Is there a technique for doing this? Also do you tape both top and bottom?
  4. Probably not. It's my first ever build and have no experience with covering so I thought the flat surfaces will make life easier. Rounding it would reduce some weight though.
  5. Just waiting for motor then I'll start covering http://www.modelflying.co.uk/gallery/images.asp?sp=&v=5&UAbN=288

  8. Thanks mate. I went for this 3800kV 280W motor in the end http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200129754558 and the Airpower 68mm fan.
  9. Been waiting ages for parts and motor. Motor has still yet to arrive. Next question is has anyone used a Spektrum AR6100 inside the fuselage? I have been using them inside ARTF fomaies without problem. How does balsa compare with foamie for RF? Hopefully will get to a stage to take some uncovered photos this week. Many thanks
  10. Isn't the motor 3.17mm shaft and the fan 2.3mm?
  11. Would this combi work? http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=91 http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=511 I use the same motor on my Firebird. Thanks for the quick response guys.

  14. BRC are out of stock for the EDF flight sets http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=642 Can someone recommend something else? Just need to EDF to start final assemble. Wings/boom/tail pieces are done.
  15. More n00b questions. 1. Hinges - Do you use tape (if so are there any rcommendations)? Or something like this?http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=147 2. Control horns. Can I use something like this and should they be glued or use nut/bolts? Is the balsa too thin? http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=525 3. How do you make the angle on the alieron hinges? Just sand away? Sorry for some many n00b questions but I really would like to have a go rather than get another ARTF. Thanks
  16. Where do I start? I owned a Fantom EP EDF (now demised) and currently fly a Firebird EDF with a 4100kV motor. This looks like an ideal project for someone like me who can fly RTF/ARTF and are looking to move to the next step, but the article assumes a lot of prior knowledge and skills. Love to do this as a first geniue build but where do I start? Balsa: Is www.balsamart.co.uk a good source, they don't seem to have all the grades mentioned on the plan??? I live in the middle of no where so there are no local hobby shops. Does the balsa have to be hardned with dope of some sort? Or is the solarfilm strong enough? Gule: Epoxy, CA, white? Solarfilm: As someone else says how to apply? Wing profiles: How critical is it to get right? Or will the alierons/speed compenstate for a poor profile? Greatly appreciate some comments to a n00b builder.
