I have just fitted a new esc on my Bixler 2 as the one that came with it kept cutting out, tried a good fully charged battery and still cutting out. My question is which way round should the pusher prop be?the motor seems to be turning in the right direction but the trailing edge of the prop comes first, should the front of the prop (ie the side that's got the prop size on)face the nose of the plane(Front) Chris

Thank you both for your replies, the Rx antenna was away from the tripod ,but obviously needs to be up high ,In the open.I have heard a lot about circular polarised antennas so will have a look on hobby rc,as for Tx I shall put it on top of the Quanum ,it will also be away from the Rx for controlling the Quanum and camera.I believe the Go Pro can emit interference. I have just fitted my FPV Tx on my Quanum Nova, but at a distance of just 30 feet as it moves around I keep losing the picture, the monitor is on a tripod in the open ,transmitter is underneath next to camera mount aerial horizontal, both aerials are standard rubber ducks.Should it be on top with aerial vertical same as on monitor. Hi Essjay, thanks for your reply,I shall go ahead and see where I can fit it on my Quanum nova. I have a Go pro 3 ,how does your Tx fit on to the Go pro?I have had to switch mine to 720 hd to get a narrower field of view,I did not like the ultra wide FOV. -
Thanks Scot,I have just bought a new one off ebay £12 no Tx or camera, and I can use the faulty one for spares.

I have now had 3 flights this weekend with my new Bixler 2,but its very erratic motor cuts, slows down, speeds up its all over the place ,2 crash landings, balance is fine ,the second flight was fine in the middle once I cut the throttle to half way, taking off is very difficult.not an easy climb out.

Installing servos foam wing Bixler 2
christopher small replied to christopher small's topic in All Things Model Flying
Thanks Dave,I shall have a go at it in the morning, see what I can do.I like your idea with the tape. The strip of foam under the wing will be glued in permanently over aileron and flap leads,if I need to remove a flap servo I can cut off the plug and pull cable out ,then rip servo out..as Pete said it holds the carbon wing tube in place ,I want a strong wing. -

great idea Percy my only problem would be getting the servo lead out from under the strip of EPO foam which has to be glued down. -

Hi Percy,I used to sand them but my prop balancer wasn`t much good so they were worse when I finished than they were before.I need some fuel proofer so I can get some clearcoat at the same time as my balancer. -

Pusher prop on a glider
christopher small replied to christopher small's topic in All Things Model Flying
Thank you all for your replies,it would be nice to get it flying,I don`t want to give up, Simon I have looked at the Bixler for the thrust line, looks ideal for my FPV plenty of room in there, much better than messing with my glider, and I think its almost ready to fly. -
Is it possible to fit an electric pusher prop on my 6foot Simpleton glider on a pylon mount?many years ago I fitted an Enya 049 up near the nose which worked really well. Now I want to try FPV I need a rear pusher prop on the trailing edge of the wing so I can have the Go Pro with FPV on the nose with a clear view, first attempt is not very good, needs a lot of up thrust.

Thanks Chris, your large diameter thick wall tubing sounds a good idea, always a good idea to pressure test your fuel tank, had problems in the past with fuel supply. Hi Andy,I have the same problem with o rings,I have a big box of every size I could possibly need.(that's what it says on box)except the one I want.
