  1. Just take a look at the video on this link the pilot is only 5. child superstar or what? scroll down page to Watch video
  2. Esky have done me well generally holding thier voltage right through to about 80% of their capacity only used the smaller 2s 620mAh and 3s 1320mAh both 15c (cont) Loong max 1800mAh 3s 1p 25c 1st try of these on sat got 1890mAh out with a last second drop to 9.9v time will tell how long they can keep this up price not bad at 18.22 ish
  3. Lets hope not eh cos then I've found some good little batteries not badly priced either at 18.22 still time will tell definately one for the battery thread methinks
  4. Yes except that neither during either discharge or charge did the bty temp feel at all warmer than the ambient air temp so where is the heat and how come not one of my other lipo's ever shows a charge of more than app 80% of their rating even when discharged to as little as 3.3v per cell what i suspect is that the rating on these bty's is understated either way to get nearly 20 mins flight on one 1800 bty from an Esky 450 motor is good in anyones books init  nearly 33% more than Esky reckon from their own bty's
  5. Just recently bought an Esky Belt cp, and with it got some Loong max 1800mAh 3s 25c bty's, from Giant cod. Now I've some experience with LiPo's but this surprised me. On return from the patch after the 1st flight of the said heli, which incidental went very well for my test pilot if not so good for me nearly tried ploughing the field with the rotors  , I routinely charged the 2 batteries that had been used. my 1st thought was that on the one that had discharged enough to trip the esc into auto rotate after nearly 30 Min's of take offs and landings, prob 20 in the air, that the voltage was perhaps a little low 9.8v still in the safe area if only just. on charging it though was surprised to see a figure of 1890mAh put in. how is this happening? Anyone throw some light is it simply that the labelling is accurate for a change or what ?
  6. Your worse than me posting at this time eric  thought earlier you'd said you had a kit waiting guess you know all about the need for speed on this one then
  7. In the case of my local slope club its just a case of purism shame really cos that fournier of mine needs some getting aloft arrivals are fun too it just doesn't like slow seriously thinking of a central wheel to soften the arrival a little more than a skid does if ever you get round to making yours make sure you give it a good power train (at least 80+ watts/lb) the aileron option is a must too I've found the CoG needs to be slightly nose heavy as well
  8.  where is this all going? looks like a debate on mass contraception is on the way or perhaps a debate on the possibilities of the human race following the star trek example think I'm out off here. still on a brighter note weathers looking ok for the weekend
  9. Hmm not sure David, i had a very short answer from my local (name withheld) slope club when i asked if i could take my Fournier RF4 powered glider to one of their hillside meetings  in short they do not allow power anywhere except at their once a year flat field event seems a bit pointless having a model you can only use once a year thank god there's other clubs locally
  10. My experienceon my return to the sport about 2 years ago was much what has been said. it can be awkward to integrate with club members, I experienced this for about my 1st 2 visits with not knowing the form on the field etc. luckily I dropped on an extremely nice chap on about my 3rd visit who took me under his wing so to speak and the rest is history as they say. so my advice to any new comer would be get known by the lads at the patch and don't be shy very few will laugh out loud if you ask a silly question, and DO NOT spend any dosh till you've had some advice from at least 3 different people, the more the better.
  11. Is it me or has that inverted glider got a jet on board wonder what our purist slopers would have to say about that? Phil
  12. Very pretty keep being tempted by these 3D thingys
  13. That would do it Timbo ok guess honours are even on this and a line drawn firmly underneath it now back to praying to the weather gods for good weather for the weekend hey
  14. Hey that was quick found the answer the flybar mount can be removed and can be refitted at 90 degrees to its proper position that would do it  However you would have to remove the entire inner shaft how does that happen accidentally
  15. From wot I can make out on the portal they are talking about the flybar holder being misorientated. I wasn't aware it was removable in fact i'm sure it aint well confused so I'm delving into the archives to get the originall exploded view parts list out I may be some time its dark in that there loft
  16. Exactly my point Birdy this is why we need flight discipline don't get me wrong I'm not about regulating the fun out of the sport just about exercising some common sense safety rules so we can all continue to enjoy ourselves for as long as possible and the more experienced amongst us have a duty to introduce newcomers properly and not simply let them loose with misguided missiles I'll get of the soapbox now  happy flying/hovering and safe landings/crashes
  17. We're going of thread here but timbo's involved so prob ok.  small point on the ali fly bar mount an early prob I had was that with mine being an early model it came with a small screw to pinch the flybar in place so according to the instructions I fitted said screw. bad mistake instead of popping out on contact with the an imovable object it snapped the carrier clean of the inner shaft. my point is, in an ali mount would the fly bar, or worse the inner shaft, end up bent instead of simply popping out?
  18. Not sure the pilot was entirely to blame he should've been instructed better perhaps maybe even on a buddy box just get the feeling the whole scenario was just a little to relaxed
  19. just seen this on the flying wings site you have to scroll down the page to find the video a real good reason for not overflying the flight line Watch video
  20. That possibly sounds like you, like me, got it in rotated so the pivot pins were vertical instead of engaged in their respective holes this certainly stiffens it up resuting in an ineffective fly bar making for a very interesting flight pattern. Ps what happen to your suggestion that we should be able to upload pics to a thread only? did it turn out impracticable or something
  21. Now i maybe being a little thick here Timbo, but still cant make my fly bar on the twister bell go on the wrong way. Are we talking about the same piece of kit? I know the pics are a bit poor but think they show what I mean. whichever blade you attach the link to it still sits the same in relation to blade rotation
  22. While your around Eric saw a comment you made about the fly bar on twister contra's cant see how you can fit them any but the correct way the link always leads the the blade whichever way you fit them Phil
  23. Rite on timbo  Erfolg all the advice above is sound just treat it a little like a fixed wing if your travelling forwrad with a contra all you need do is imput a little rudder / yaw and it will follow a nice flat turn to produce a banking turn add a slight roll in the turn direction not to much though or you'll end up sliding out of the sky thats exactly how i crashed the 1st time  big thing to remember is lots of space, height and keep it slow at 1st Phil
