  1.  now I'm confused as i thought that the switch your refering to is the idle up switch which alters the programmiing of the throttle stick to give hovering revs and zero pitch at mid point rising to max throttle and positive pitch going up and max throttle and negative pitch going down ie: inverted flight the govenor I've heard about seems top set the head speed allowing the pilot to adjust lift by altering pitch independant of head speed much like the real thing Phil
  2. This is a subject that I've not come across yet in this forum. My uderstanding is that these devices hold the head speed for you while you simply controll the rotor pitch making the flying of scale manouvers much the same as in full size heli's. have I got this right ?
  3. Hi all just my 2p worth I've found the contra's to be very valuable learning tools teaching me stick skills without too much cost yes I've crashed my twister bell47 many times in two years or so but it has given me the confidence to progress. my belt cp is with the couriers as we speak and luckily I've got a local club secretary whose willing to mentor me into proper heli flight. Not sure about flight sims had a large amount on "traing" sims before attempting fixed wing flight and all it really taught me was bad habbits that took some getting rid of "yanking sticks" to name one, several expensive wing rebuilds cured me of that one, maybe it was a poor sim. Either way there is no substitute for experience and that includes someone elses Phil
  4. Not a bad little training heli mate my ealier version the twister bell 47 has done me really good service and durable to make sure you get spare rotor blades as you will break a few some spare bty,s are usefull even though the originall is a 2s 1p 800mAh 10c I use a dualsky 2s 1p 620mAh 15c bty with virtually no reduction in flight times due to the lighter wieght these are available from alshobbies but also check giantcod.co.uk they have some at incredibly low prices. The heli by the way draws about 5Amp max so both bty's are well within capacity. Happy hovering Phil
  5. Tell you wot Mark make sure that switch you flick once in the air isn't the idle up switch with the wrong imput that switch can be devastating I'm told Phil
  6. Yes mate unless owens lead turns up something cheaper  I hope
  7. Yes very effective just one small prob while doing that the swash plate bearing housing seperated so now i'm in the market for a new airframe  and top rotors. hence the inquiries about ali upgrades Phil
  8.  I'm ordering the belt cp and hopefully the scale cabin for it tomorrow mate will still want my old faithfull 47 for indoor use mate have tou seen the pics of my 47 with the kights in yet Phil
  9. Cheers owen I'll see wot they turn up
  10. I've just had to rplace the canopy on my original bell47 the new one would appear to be for the v2 and I have to say is far superior much thicker and no joint in the middle. i think it could do with a little more paint perhaps. This has prompted me to think about upgrading maybe an ali swash plate as i,ve occaisionally  had an issue with the original item seperating either side of the bearing casing not a difficult one to repair but can be embarrasing if it happens in flight. has any one used these upgrades and are they worth the effort and cost?
  11. Off course I've also got to fit the thing and modify the aileron controlsn but thats the fun bit also noticed that giant cod and BRC have some 8g micro servos at 2/3 quid that pull up to 1.5kg they'll be paying us to take them soon  (I wish)
  12. Think thats job done then lads just got to wait for them to come in stock now and part with some readies  thanks Phil
  13. nice deal timbo suprising wot one can find wen one looks found this at giantcod for £4.29 they have 25Amp ESC's for about £8 wouldn't the 25Amp give slightly more protection than the 20amp offered at brc?  I notice though that both these motors are currently out off stock obviously popular or else why are they just like rocking horse doodah? Checking again if a 20Amp is big enough giant cod have one at £4.00
  14. Cheers eric have you had a chance to appraise the power train that brentford are suggesting the data sheet link is in my post at 10:42 yesterday they are suggesting the ep9047 prop listed
  15. The ailerons were fitted as per the updated drawings provided with the model no suggestion of dihedral reduction was made so er no I didn't is this likely to be a problem. to be honest the operation of said ailerons operated by a single servo via two snakes seems a little to stiff for my liking may yet remove them or convert to 2 wing mounted servos

  17. Ureka think I've got an  answer just found the motor that brentford recomend the specs are at this site what do you think Eric Timbo any one looks good at 33 squid with esc still need to find a folding prop though
  18. Thanks eric. also  have you or anyone any ideas regarding a supplier of a good folding prop for this as I'm struggling to find one also brentford have suggested a gws 2208/18T motor on a 1300 3s LiPo with a 9x4.7 prop apparently that produces over 500grms of thrust but have no data as to amps/watts also they don't have a folding prop which and I'll stand correction is prob essential for this model PS. just checked box etc its a speed 400 motor as standard
