  1. i think the ferrite ring sounds most strait forward , also it sounds like a good way of keeping all the wires nice and neat, i might try that on all my models as i do get the odd glitch now and again, Also i may make the jump to 2.4 soon, as i understand it is far more glitch resistant...
  2. thanks Timbo.. thats really helpful, i will get some this wk end, thanks for the pics aswell . What is the idea with ferrite rings , do they cut down radio noise within the model or do they help boost the servo signal? as i have never herd of them before.
  3. thanks guys, it sounds like extending the motor wires is probably the best and having the esc as far back as possible. Also i have herd someone say about wrapping the rx in foil before , does that really work  ? Also please forgive my ignorance but what is a ferrite ring ?  iv never come across that before, the problem is most of my flying is done out of my back garden with a mate and  we are a bit in the dark about souch things, Peter the lma cosford show is one of the best model air show around with loads of trade stands and some of the best pilots in the uk ,you will have a great day ,just take loads of cash as there are some really good bargins to be had.
  4. Hi all... can anyone help, i have just finished building a depron eurofighter typhoon and need a little avice on fitting out the the electrics,The model will be a pusher prop rather than a ducted fan, and due to the fact that the motor is at the back but the receiver  and battery is at the front the problem is how do i connect the esc to the receiver and motor ,the motor wires are only a few inches long as are the esc wires so some how i need to extend them , now is it better to extend the motor wires and have them running the length of the plane to the front or would it be better to just join the motor and esc at the back and extend the receiver and battery leads  to the front? I will be flying on 35 meg so i am trying to avoid radio noise and the dredded glitches, it is also worth a mention that the rudder and elervon servos are also at the back so there wires will need to run the length of the fus. Any help will be greatly received..... PS, LMA cosford soon (cant wait) please can we have some more sun.Edited By Timbo - Moderator on 09/07/2009 00:15:48
  5. HI Eric, thanks for the help i have tried everything but it still wont stop twiching, i even changed the esc and motor today , but still no better, honestly iv never had one like it, I did manage a range check with the aerial right up with the help of my daughter today and i recon i got about 80/100 yards and it seems ok but ran out of light so tomorow all being well i will fly it, thanks again Eric and David .. ps David keep up the good work,    (great mag!)
  6.  "I really would like this one" yes please!!!!!!!!
  7. just the thing for these long hot balmy evenings we are having..................... yes please
  8. Hi all can anyone help or offer any advice , i have a gws tigermoth 400 wich i have  just finished ,but each time i do a range test ,as soon as i get about 30 feet away from the model it goes mentle, if i extend the aeriel a little it seems ok but even with a half extended aeriel it still goes mad at about 40 yards, I was using a gws miro rx (naro type) but i changed that for a hitec 4 ch long range one and that has made it a bit better but even that goes mad at about 35-40 yards when the aeriel is right down , so still dont want to fly it yet. The radio is a hitec optic 6 and have never had a problem with it before .... Any help would be welcome.. thanks .....Alvin
  9. Thanks owen  am well pleased with the mini pred se , it did take a little while to set it up regards radio set up an pitch angle but it flies really well. I spent almost the entire day today hovering around  and can now hold her pretty well still in the air, so i think for a beginners model it is exellent, I got this one from abc modelsport it cost £225 all in, or you can get the standard one for about £145 ,but they both come with a pretty good radio ,brushless motor, 1300mah lipo and ballance charger plus you get the training gear and a free flight sim in with the deal. Also the parts really are very cheap, cant wait till tomorrow, ENJOY THE WEATHER WHILE ITS HERE......
  10.  Hi all , well i have got my 1st heli at last its a mini pred but i opted for the se version with the metal head and tail also carbon blades, tho a may well change to the cheap old wood ones as carbon blades for training may get a bit costly, any way took it out today for the first flight  WOW! what a rush i dont think i blinked or breathed for the whole flight , well i say flight it was more hoping than flying but i did manage to hold it for a few seconds at times so im well chuffed, also no damage either, i am totaly hooked this has got to be one of the best hobbies ....... thanks to all for your help and advice, Alv...............
  11. Hi Owen..... in the end i have opted for the mini pred by century, i did come really close to buying the belt cp but got put off a bit by a review i read in one of the heli mags, the main problem it seems is the gyro wich didnt have  heading hold, i know i could have just upgraded the gyro but i really want an  all in package that i dont have to mess with to much while i am still learning, so i have brought the mini pred SE with the metal rotor head and tail plus the carbon blades and of coarse the traning gear, should have it in the next day or so , hope iv made the right choise, A friend if mine has one and learned to hover prettywell after a few hours  so it should be ok , also parts are dirt cheap ....
  12. thanks everyone , i still cant make mind up ,i have read all the threads aswell as various reveiws and now im tempted by the esky belt cp...AAAARRRGGG decisions
  13.  Thanks Mark ...just had a look at one on the modelmaniacs web site , that looks more like what i had in mind ,also the spares are cheap as well, I have a hitec optic 6 tx that i use for my fixed wing aircraft would this be ok for helis , it has got a heli setting on the menu but dont really no much about the setting up for a heli, I no the solaris comes with the tx much like the mini pred but it would be nice to use a radio that i am used to......
  14. thanks for the info guys, i have flown a contra rota model very briefly and found it very good and not that hard to get BASIC control of it, but i think i would still rather a cp model for that extra challenge, also i could progress with the model rather than upgrading when i feel that i reach the limit of the contra type can do ,providing it lasted long enough,
  15. Hi, i have flown fixed wing for a few years now but i am thinking of making the jump to helis, iv looked at a few models now and the one i really like the look of is the mini pred by century. Would this be a sensible choice for a beginner? also i only want to fly electric, any help would be great. thanks .. Alvin ....telford
