  1. Guys, the battery is less than two years old and was in my 2004 X-Type Estate. I went to start the car after leaving it for a couple of months and it was completely flat. A check after I removed it showed just over 1.8vdc. Obviously my charger would not start at this voltage so it took three days with a Solar Powered charger to bring the battery voltage up to just over 12.

This picture was taken about half an hour ago. Seems like it's working.

  2. Hi Folks, it's been quite a while since I've been on the forum.

I have a flat car battery that I'm charging with an iCharger 1010B+ and I have a question.

Going by what's printed on the top of the battery it has a 75A capacity and a cranking capacity of over 600A.

At present it has been charging at a rate of 2A for the past 5 hours and some 15A have been put in. My question is, how long do I let it charge for?

    Cheers,

    Doug.

  3. Hi Folks,

I've just returned from a business trip and the battery in my car seems to have gone flat as a pancake. I don't have a "bulk standard" car battery charger but what I do have is an icharger 1010B+. Can I use this to charge my car battery and if so, what rate should I charge it at?

    Cheers,

    Doug

  4. I can remember getting into serious trouble from my day when he caught me on the roof of our house getting ready to launch a 1/24 scale Spitfire. Didn't fly but the crash was pretty spectacular!

    Happy days!

  5. Hi David S,

No need to apologize for the lengthy intro, the more information given makes it a lot easier for us old lags to pass on any pearls of wisdom we may have.

Welcome back to this deranged hobby of ours! I hope you and your son enjoy the ride!

  6. Hi Andy,

Glow fuel is hard to come by where I live and mail-order costs a fortune. I can get petrol anywhere and the left over fuel goes in my car, what little oil there is in the mixture gets further diluted so I doubt I will gum up my injectors.

  7. Hi Paul,

i added two shims to the cylinder head but I'm thinking the magnet may be out by a few degrees as the engine is very reluctant to speed up. The problem is trying to get the mixture right. From the normal 2 to 2 1/2 turns open for glow fuel the needle is open barely a half for petrol and is very twitchy! Another problem is getting fuel into the existing carb (no connection from the exhaust pressure nipple) for starting with the needle hardly open. So I was hoping the new carb would help. If it works then I may convert more of my engines.

Now, if someone could design an ignition unit for a radial engine...

  8. Thanks for the replies. I've tried a few UK stockists but they are all out of stock and they don't seem to know when they will get any in.

i have an ASP 52 that I tried to convert to petrol but I just can't seem to get the mixture right. Then I saw these little EVO carbs and I'd give one a try.
