  1. Hello all Can anyone put me in touch with Martin Fardell whose plan for the RE8 was published in RCME. in the late 80's. I built from the plan and would like to compare notes. The plane is in the war museum in Johannesburg South Africa.  Looking forward to contact. Brian
  2. Hi guys I am as well as can be expected but went through a bit of a bad patch. Never mind life goes on. I have found the Micron digicon radio that I built and flew in South Africa in the 80's and as it is on 35mHz I am going to check it out and have it tested for bandwidth etc and I am going to build an oldtimer that is abut as slow as I am these days. I was thinking of a Red Zephyr or Radio Queen fromBen Buckle kits as I have a Surpass 48 that will do nicely. It will give me something to doover the winter.  Keep well everyone  Brian
  3. Hi Doug Thats my feeling but everything feels loose and the conrod comes about half way of the crank pin but just wont move any more. The piston is up against th side of the engine block and the conrod is at the limit of movement in the piston. I am flummoxed. Brian
  4. I have an OS 48 Surpass that has been standing for 5 years. There is no rust as it was sealed in a contatiner with oil and silica gel. The oil has gone stiff and I think it was due to some fuel being left inside when it was sealed. I have had no problem stripping it using a little heat to get the sleeve out. This is where I am now as the conrod will not come off the crank. Am I missing something? I have never stripped it before and dont want to force anything. Help me please
  5. Timbo, without sounding like a complete idiot could you tell me what you mean by PM as I am interested
  6. Malcolm Snap. I went for a flight in Tiger Moth in 2005 and also enjoyed it immensly. I was on holiday from South Africa at the time and it was my birthday present from my son who lives in London.
  7. Timbo can you give me some reputable sources for a new 35 meg set. I have only just arrived in the UK and wouldn't know where to start.
  8. Thanks for the help everyone I did Google but got so much I had hoped thet someone could narrow it down a bit which is exactly what Timbo did. As I am partially disabled with Parkinson's (see original thread), I have to watch the pennies so it looks as though I will stick to the Futaba. A thought was raised during my surfing and that ewas a comment that there might be a lot of scond hand 35 meg sets going as a result of the 2.4 gig revolution so maybe that might be the way to go?
  9. Jetsome I was rather hoping you could give me an internet site that is good as I live rather in the sticks up here in the north of Scotland.
  10. Malcolm you amaze me. My previous comment about the colour included that the prototype for my model was at Duxford!!! he-he. There is one other that is somewhere in Belgium.
