  1. Does anyone have an offcut of black Solatex they would consider posting to me for a fair price? I need a bit about 12cm x 12cm ..... I did try to get some from 3 local shops today and none of them even have a 2m roll to sell....
  2. Nope I was wrong!!! Job is a good'un... Flat battery causing the hassle.  Just need to find out the control throws and get some black Solatex...
  3. Got it in one John. EPP it is.  Got fed up and have just hacked into it.  Whoever made it did a very tidy job and there is not much space to manoeuvre in there. I think I might just have killed the RX....  Edited By Timbo - Moderator on 02/09/2009 13:00:04
  4. Bought a foam jart for a fellow flier and dont want to cut into it unless I really have too. He flies on JR and Im Futaba. Is there any way to use mixes or such like to save me hacking into it?  Cheers in advance, Andy
  5. Posted by Peter Savage on 31/08/2009 22:26:24: To be honest i think they came in too late for 2.4ghz, Futaba and spektrum have become the favourite and as they are not backwards compatible, people will not want to switch because they got a £100(?) module free in a competition, having to spend a further £30 - £40 on a receiver. Where can you get the RX for £30-40 ??? The ones I have seen are £80
  6. Posted by BalsaBasher on 31/08/2009 15:52:20: Maybe it is just the pic but the tail does seem to be a bit off to the left ??/ Keep up the work - lets see her fly.  Thanks for looking in. Its been a bit lonely in this blog.  The tail is straight. Must be a trick of the camera. More pics to follow this evening with the progress so far..I need to get a wiggle on with this one as I have a Jart to sort out and a new kit for my birthday which is just over a week away...
  7. Well all things being equal(like the shrinking rates of brown paper) it seems to have sorted itelf out
  8. 6mm Depron does not like to be covered with brown paper. It shrinks a bit too much. Will try covering the other side to see if it pulls back straight. I suspect not though...
  9. Posted by Tom Doyle on 25/08/2009 21:44:34: A relatively new member to our club, who has some understanding of electric flight, threw an interesting question into our club forum recently. He quoted the accepted yard stick of 100 watts/lb for an electric model and asked if there was a similar formula for IC. Having recently bought himself an Evolution 61NT with a quoted output of 2bhp (in electric terms 1.6kw - 746 watts/hp) he suggested that using 100 watts/lb formula, the Evolution should be capable of propelling a 16lb model!!!   Knowing that this is just not the case, I wondered if someone could offer a technical explanation. Many thanks. Tom D Tom,  thats a question I have though about asking and decided not too till I had thought about it some more. Still have not come up with an answer.  The only one that comes close is that the IC motors have "mildy" optimistic claims made for them. But that can't be correct as that would be potentially libellous. I prefer the theory that IC motor OP is quoted as the OP from the prop driver (flywheel in a motor car) AND the losses from the heat generated.   Any advancement on that totally unscientific theory? 10. I guess from the lack of responses no one has tried covering depron with brown paper. I suppose I shall just have to be the guinea pig
  11. Pony express yet to make this far.....
  12. Thanks for that. It looks quite an involved build. I think there may be quite a few queries for the good gentlemen of this forum when I make a start.  There are a few Speedos flying on the small coastal slopes round here. If the Talon flies in less wind with anything like the  agility and fun factor of the Speedo I will be really, really made up with it.... Edited By Andy Freeman on 24/08/2009 20:40:42
  13. Thanks Mr Trash..... I had been looking at that and the Speedo from Hong Kong. Good job that was the page I left open! There will be a build thread when I start it. More to get help than anything else
  14. On a serious note. Anyone ever built/flown one of these?
  15. Poly. its a deal. She will take a lot of postage though. All those shoes and handbags
  16. Sunday being a wet and miserable day I persuaded the 6 year old to "give me a hand in the garage". What that actually means is him picking things up and finding "interesting" things to do with them. Have to say he did enjoy playing with some foam offcuts and a few cc of Cellulose thinners. We did make some progress though   The start of wheel/fairing assembly (please let me know what the correct terminology is) Did try making one from foam on Sat night, but you really dont want to see that!  Times two and glued onto the wing!!!  And the results so far...... Next job is to sand the wheel bits and cover the wing with brown paper and have another look/think about the tail surfaces. I am leaning towards 6mm Depron at the moment.
  17. Ahhhhhh, but i can imagine the scene when I have failed miserably to spot the hints she leaves me next time.... I will never hear the last of it .....
  18. Its my Birthday in a weeks time. The wife has taken the offspring shopping for his first school uniform. No doubt the shoes alone would clear the national debt of a small country.  In her absence a parcel has arrived. Can you guess what is in it? I couldn't so it had to be opened.  Paper removed a Dynaflite Talon was revealed. A small 50inch lightweight sloper.  I can only think I have left the internet on with one of these showing and she has taken it as a hint! Why coulnt i have left a page of a moulded racer on????
  19. Sober as a Judge tonight Kenny. I have been working hard on my Chilton creation. Mind you, looking at it I would have done a better job with a belly full of grape juice..
