  1. Hi Tony,             Have just re read your article from the autumn RCM&E and answered my own question about retracts and servo.  Just proves the old saying "when all else fails, read the instructions".  Thanks again.           Ted
  2. Hi Tony,              I am in the process of building a Hurricane from your plans from RCM&E.  A quick question, the plan shown in your build photos does not show the main upper 6 mm spar crossing the wing root assembly, it just covers W4 to W3.  The free plan that came with RCM&E shows this spar going from w4 left to w4 right.  As I have only just discovered your build photos I have a wing root assembly with the spar going from W4 left to W4 right.  The retracts and the wheels should fit without interefering as far as I can see, or have I missed something?  Is there a reason for the difference in the Plans?  Also Could you tell me the type and make of the retracts shown in your build photos, I can't match them with anything in my 4 year old Ripmax catalogue.          I built your Sky 40 earlier this year and I must congratulate you on it, what a' luvly' bit of kit, I am still on a buudy lead but hopefully that will change soon. What a dream to fly! thanks.        Ted.
  3. Hi Andy andErnie,                                 Thanks for the responses, I am a little reluctant to contact the police in Bulgaria, language and attitude etc, but I believe there is a Consulate in Dublin, maybe I will contact them and let you know the outcome.
  4. I intend to build the Hurricane offered in this months RCM&E and would offer this solution to the apparent problems over the plans.  Find someone that can copy the plans, I did [ £4.00].  Chop and tape these until you have a complete side elevation.  Buy some tracing paper and trace the right hand wing.  Turn the tracing over and tape it to the missing left hand side, you might have to highlight the image on the side now facing up.  Do likewise to the tailplane  then return to photo copy people and spend another £4 and you will have the satisfaction of owning complete plans, I did this when I built the Sky 40 and it worked well.  Of course it has to be IC powered if you want it sound like Merlin.                                                             Ted.
  5. Can anyone help me, we have bought a holiday place in Bulgaria and across the road from the apartment complex is a flat field about two miles across and five miles long, a gravel road twenty feet wide going across it and no fences.  This is obviously a flying field in waiting.  Can anybody tell me what restrictions might be encountered, licence requirements if any, and frequencies used.  I would only be interested in using an electric powered glider or sailplane.  I will be contacting BMFA before I go over in 2009 regarding insurance and any assistance they can offer.                                                                                                                thanks Ted.
  6. Can someone help me, please.  I am a returnee to model aircraft and have built a trainer, from plans, and it has been flown by a fellow club member, very successfully I might add.  The fuel I purchased is, Model Technics molecular blended fuel, GX-5, and the engine runs very well on it, I have run about six tanks of fuel though it.  When I turned up at the field and club members saw the fuel I was intending to use, I was given advise ranging from, 'use it to light your BBQ, but don't put through that engine', to , 'I would only use that stuff to clean my bicycle chain'.   My question is, what is wrong with this fuel? if anything, and does anyone know the make up of the fuel?.  Is it castor or synthetic, and does it contain nitromethane?. Confused Ted
  7. Hi all,         Just read exchange between Tosh and Timbo, very amusing, I am sure that Timbo was only trying to help and he probably isnt too concerned about how things are written.  I can only assume that people who are offended by emails in upper case really need to get out of the house occasionally and socialise with other members of the human race.  Why dont they by a kit, build it, chuck it in the air and take it home in a bin bag " like wot we duz".  Love the forum.                                                                Regards, Ted,                                                               NORNIRON.
