  10. Thank you Sparks ... it's been impossible to do anything since my last post, with temps being between 33 and 36º C without a breeze  (and I have no AC in the workshop)  it's impossible to deal with the iron to go on with the re-covering, anyhow I've done it on the under-wing:   Cheers,   AugustoEdited By Augusto Pinto on 10/08/2010 23:48:09

  15. Hi Sparks   Stealing things is not the worst, for me the worst is someone unknown that enters in your privacy and destroys objects, pictures and documents from which you keep memories and feelings of family, stiring with your own identity!   Well, the Sunday Flyer keep going, undercarrige is clean and re-soldered in place:     and what about the pilot:   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto Pinto on 27/07/2010 22:02:27
  16. Very nice thread and a beautiful model Sparks, congrats   Augusto
  17. I'm hard to beat and give up Stephen ... ,  and wires caban struts are being free of rust::   Cheers,   Augusto
  18. Hi Stephen,   Yes mate, I still have a few others to restore too and I could have much more buts thats another story!  .... By a matter of space my wife asked me to move the models to my parents house, after my Mam's dead the house became dispeopled and in 15 days was  assaulted for three times!   As they had nothing to steal they made a mess all over the house and broke a few models and stole my DB Hurricane (that one with foam wings) the BT P51 and a Bates Dauntless, fwe petrol engines and my Futaba 9Ch!   As we can see it was too much and at that time (three years ago) I thought to stop with the hobby.   Cheers,   Augusto     PS: Central Police door stays 50 m far from my parents door!
  19. Well, the upper surfaces covering on both wings need to be replaced and two new rolls of Solartex are ready to do the job:   It will be better, don't you think so?   Cheers,   Augusto
  20. I must correct my first post; in fact where I say that the plan was published in the Jan. and Feb. 1969 it was not, it was in 1989! Sorry for that folks.   Well, the upper surface of the upper wing it was strpiped:   In the rest of the airframe I yhink I must do the same; the Solartex it's too old and it's been dificult to make it work by re-heat it .... we'll see ... if not ... new Solartex on all airframe.   For David:             I'll see what I have in my shelfs, if I find Weekender plan it's yours folk   Cheers,   Augusto
  21. Hi Folks,   I must assume that I received and read the 50th Anniversary Edition of RCM&E with some nostalgia; in fact, I begin readig RCM&E from my 14's, in the 60's, and having a lot of of issues since the 80's I read them now and then.   But, fortunatelly, with me nostalgia works otherwise than with other people. So, after the inicial impact, I set my eyes to the shelfs of my workshop and, from the dust of the time I found this bird.     Yes boys, that's the SUNDAY FLYER! Does anyone remember it? It was a "sport biplane with a vintage air designed by MIKE CONRAD" , as said in the title of the article:   and the plan was a fre pull-out published with Jan. and Feb. 0f 1969 issues of RCM&E:   She flew with an OS 26 FS (my 1st FS engine) in its front working with a 9x6 Punctillo AIRFLOW propeller:   She flew allways very well and gave me great sessions.   I still have a few pics of the building that I scaned to show to you:           I take this afternoon cleaning it and checking all those points in which to work to refurbishing it and I didn't find to much to do gor the moment: undercarriage solderig broken in two secondary braces, fin out of place to glue and recover (solartex) upper surface of the upper wing.   Well mates that's all for today and think enough to debate!   To continue .... Cheers,   Augusto
  22. Thank you for your warm welcome boys  ... cheers, Augusto
  23. Hi folks,   I'm from Porto - Portugal (in the North )   As said in my profile I started in the hobby when I was 14 years old; I used to assemble the Airfix kits (those in plastic bags...) when, in the 4th form,  my English teacher lend me a few issues of RCM&E to improve my English with the readings... Well folks, my English didin't improve, as you can see, but I became an aeromodeller in a couple of days! and still reading RCM&E!   We were in 1961! so I'm now almost 63 and still building and flying our birds.    (One very good reason to feel nostalgic when I received the Anniversary Edition)   I'm a structural engineer in the active, married, two sons (boys), one grand-son and a dog (Labrador).   I use to build my models from plans and kits in the very traditional way; for the moment I'm building the OS2U Kingfisher from Brian Taylor (the Master).   Hope to learn o lot from all of you and I'll try to do my best if and when anyone needs my services.   Cheers,   Augusto
  24. You will live forever between us Boddo, Rest in Peace.   Augusto
  25. From Porto - Portugal   Hi Boddo,   You was my inspiration when I return to the hobby in the earlies 80's, I keep the letters you wrote to me answering to my questions and doubts about some of your designs; after all this years we all still need you SIR, so have a fast recovery and get well soon.   Augusto
