  1. Thanks Bob. Think you're right. I thought it might have beem a misprint in the instructions. Trouble is the front of engine will 'stick out' quite a bit in front of the cowl. Even the engine mount is longer then the cowl.
  2. I have recently purchased a VQ AT-6 Texan-Castrol.First inspection of contents, quality for the money seems excellent. However, one problem I found was that the engine cowl seemed too short. Instructions state that distance from the firewall to front of cowl should be 107mm. Problems is the cowl is only 90mm long. Thinking that an incorrect cowl had been supplied, I contacted Slough Radio Control Models to see if they could open another kit and measure the cowl for me. They were very obliging, but they did not have a kit in stock to check. Have any of RCM&E readers got one of these models that they can measure the cowl for me to see if the kit has been supplied with an incorrect cowl, or if it is just a common fault Thank you. 3. I've recently purchased the Acro Wot Mk2 ARTF. We (my wife and I) went to Cosford this year ( I like to spoil her and give her a day out at least once a year). TJD were selling them at £113.00 ! so it would have been rude not to buy one. What a bargain! The quality is superb. It went together perfectly, can't fault it. Only alteration I made, was to fit a Slec tank. It's just a personal preference. I always use them. I've put an OS 70 Four stoke up front with an APC 13x8 prop.A  6  volt.  RX battery was put under the fuel tank and had to put a small amount of lead in the nose. Total weight cames in at just under 6and a half pounds.  As ARTF budget kits go, this one must be one of the best. I haven't flown it yet.(I only finished it today), but if it flies as good as it looks and goes together, then Mr Foss has got a winner. Well done Mr Foss ! 4. Thanks Paul and Yobyid.
  5. Thanks Yobyid , Jon and Ultymate. I've tried with the FILE SYSTEM UTILITY. Still no joy ! Futaba we not much help, they just told me to look at the download instructions. I think, as you sugested Jon, I will try other SD cards, although the one I used was new . Once again, thanks. Terry
  6. I have recently purchased a Futaba 8FG Super Tx. Thinking that when new software becomes available it will easily installed to the Tx. The Tx purchased was version 4.1. I noticed on Futaba website there was a Version 5.0 available for download, so I decided, to keep my Tx 'up to date' I would download the software on to the Tx. A 2 GB SD card was inserted into the Tx and was formatted as per instruction manual. Version 5.0 was downloaded to the PC and the SD card inserted into PC card slot. It came up on PC that the SD card was "FULL" and was unable to transfer data to it. I tried several times. ie. emptied card and re formated it in Tx, but with same results . To check the SD card I put it into a digital camera. The camara also registered it as "FULL" Totally confused I contacted Ripmax and explained the situation to them. They explained that the card format was not recognized by the PC but offered no resolution to the problem . They also advised against upgrading the Tx saying that it could damage the Tx. I am a bit confused, Futaba claim that, as new software becomes available the Tx can be upgraded , but Ripmax advise against it. Has anybody had a similar experience? I have emailed Futaba asking them for any comments to the situation.
  7. Always balance with tank empty. I have had several Seagull 40's and ,in my opinion, they are a fantastic 'plane. They are forgiving, excellent slow speed handling, and capable of any maneuver that the pilot is capable of. Only fault with them is the wing covering. Becomes very brittle in the cold.
  8. I have recently purchased, built and flown the Seagull Extra 300s. As usual for Seagull the quality is excellent. Could not find any faults with the build. I always go for a bit above the recommended engine size range so I've put an OS95 AX up front. No problems what so ever. Balanced spot on and came out at  7 1/2 lbs. Swings an APC 15x8 with ease.  Flies like a dream with no nasty habits.
