That is one fine printed project .I do have a question re the blades. What size are the blades ,what is there weight and what is the weight of the complete blade assembly.

Yes ,I am printing blades for this model and need to compare.

     Happy Landings

     Chris...

Hi Cris Watched your video flying the Gyroo Eleven 🤔

May I ask how far apart are your wheels and do they give a positive angel of attack for the blades. 🤔

Neat work Stephen, are you aiming for a 3s 2200mah lipo?

I Think you know my style more than most.

So for the E Guppy it will be a 4s Motor will be DYS 3530 1400Kv a power to weight ratio of 2-1 😉.

And for the G Guppy I will be using a .25.

With option for wheel's although I see them as extra weight and drag 😜.

    Cheers Steve.

I will endeavor to get the model completed and flown in the near future to complete the blog in tribute.

In the near future, we are talking 12 years later here.  How much longer ?

I do miss BEB, My only regret is not realizing that he was at a fly-in that I attended had I known I would of gone over to him and had a chat. 😩

The X4R and X6R probably have V1 firmware on them. You could flash them to V2-LBT, or UNI.

As a quick check you could try binding them using the MPM and select FRSKYX D16 (for FCC) or FRSKYX EU for EU-LBT) and see if they bind.

Thanks Mike, I thought about flashing the Rx but that will be tomorrow now as I have to get them out of the models .

Plus if I flash UNI i would need to get the activation codes from some one.

    Cheers Steve.

  5. Looks like my D8 Rx are ok but my D16 Rx no longer working and will not bind on the internal or MPM.

Will look into it further tomorrow .

    x4r D16 not working

    x6R D16 not working

X8R D16 is working but I think I have Uni firmware on that one.

    more to test.

Thanks for the help so far.

BTW I have been using Frsky since the very early days when they only had Hack Modules I have several of them in different Transmitters

Also have lots of Rx too including the early V and D models.

So now I can glue the wing skin to the bottom of the wing.

Pins are used to make sure that the leading edge is level by feeling where the ribs are and pushing down and pinning in place.

weight it down to make sure good contact with the glue that was run along all the ribs and spars ect a slow glue I find best as this allows me a bit of time to ensure all is in place and clamped down.

I have trimmed off the over hang of sheeting.

All that is needed now is the wing tips and Trailing edges.

  7.  The wing skin is made up of 1/16th Balsa sheet 4 inch wide and if you cut one full sheet 4 x 36 diagonal you can use 1 and a half sheets of Balsa per wing side.

    large.277245791_Wingskin1.jpg.2ca491bedee7348d35e129ff89a1b8fb.jpg

For those that have not done this before,

Here is how to join two sheets of 1/16th balsa to form one large wing skin.

Butt the two sheets together and weight them down so that they do not move.

    large.1914786647_Wingskin2.jpg.d1601fea242f7a3355b0767b554468d4.jpg

Now stick them together with tape as above.

Turn over so that the gap between the two sheets are open that way you can run some super glue into the gap.

Now turn the sheets over so that you can close the gap up and quickly wide away any excess glue.

Peel of the tape and your done.

  8. Hello again done some more work on this today.

    large.670640957_WingJig.jpg.200a80b75292ad93d1d795776b71a468.jpg

So here you can see I have placed some wing supports on the wing plan to lay the top side of the wing down.

    large.1002963154_Wingn1.jpg.022d77b0f87d5c474fe2c634ebc444b7.jpg

Here you can see that I have started to remove the building tabs from the bottom of the wing.

    large.885889927_wingN3.jpg.d0b901bf167214aaf0aba9d55678dc6a.jpg

All the building tabs have been removed and sanded the bottom of the wing to ensure all is true before adding the bottom wing skin which is made up from 1/16th Balsa sheet.

Steve, further to my previous postings, I have just done a bit of experimenting.

I have some X8R receivers that I have flashed with Mike Blandford’s excellent UNI firmware. One of the additional benefits of doing this is that the firmware comes with a LUA script file called UNI Stats. Running this when the receiver is bound to a transmitter tells you, amongst other things, the exact protocol that the tx is using (ie V1 or V2, EU(LBT) or FCC). Brilliant!

Using this I have ascertained that (1) the internal RF module in my tx is V1EU (I did already know that) and (2) that the multi protocol module I have fitted has the facility to be set to all four combinations of D16 protocol, ie V1FCC, V1EU(LBT), V2FCC or V2EU(LBT).

I have just bound the same receiver to each of the four combinations in turn and it works fine on any.

Therefore, your new receivers will work with the MPM. You set the required protocol on your tx screen. D16 is V1, D16-2 is V2, then select either D16 or EU in the secondary menu.

If your MPM is old and doesn’t have the D16-2 option then you’ll need to update it’s firmware version.

    Brian.

    Forgive me what's MPM ?

Maybe my D8 would not bind on the external module as it reports that the receiver is already in use.
