In the near future, we are talking 12 years later here. How much longer ?
I do miss BEB, My only regret is not realizing that he was at a fly-in that I attended had I known I would of gone over to him and had a chat. 😩

The X4R and X6R probably have V1 firmware on them. You could flash them to V2-LBT, or UNI.
As a quick check you could try binding them using the MPM and select FRSKYX D16 (for FCC) or FRSKYX EU for EU-LBT) and see if they bind.
Mike
Thanks Mike, I thought about flashing the Rx but that will be tomorrow now as I have to get them out of the models .
Plus if I flash UNI i would need to get the activation codes from some one.
Cheers Steve.

Looks like my D8 Rx are ok but my D16 Rx no longer working and will not bind on the internal or MPM.
Will look into it further tomorrow .
x4r D16 not working
x6R D16 not working
X8R D16 is working but I think I have Uni firmware on that one.
more to test.
Thanks for the help so far.
BTW I have been using Frsky since the very early days when they only had Hack Modules I have several of them in different Transmitters
Also have lots of Rx too including the early V and D models.

Cheers steve.
Found it just doing test, but have bind to my R6mine

Mine only goes up to 63 and reports as invalid protocol.
The highest number I can enter without getting the invalid protocol is 60_2
a bit stuck for now. 😩
Thanks for the help so far 👍

Cheers Brian,
No mine is not the same as yours.
I got mine a long time ago from Banggood so will be a copy, but I did update mine not so long ago possible from that site.

So now I can glue the wing skin to the bottom of the wing.
Pins are used to make sure that the leading edge is level by feeling where the ribs are and pushing down and pinning in place.
weight it down to make sure good contact with the glue that was run along all the ribs and spars ect a slow glue I find best as this allows me a bit of time to ensure all is in place and clamped down.
I have trimmed off the over hang of sheeting.
All that is needed now is the wing tips and Trailing edges.

The wing skin is made up of 1/16th Balsa sheet 4 inch wide and if you cut one full sheet 4 x 36 diagonal you can use 1 and a half sheets of Balsa per wing side.
For those that have not done this before,
Here is how to join two sheets of 1/16th balsa to form one large wing skin.
Butt the two sheets together and weight them down so that they do not move.
Now stick them together with tape as above.
Turn over so that the gap between the two sheets are open that way you can run some super glue into the gap.
Now turn the sheets over so that you can close the gap up and quickly wide away any excess glue.
Peel of the tape and your done.

Hello again done some more work on this today.
So here you can see I have placed some wing supports on the wing plan to lay the top side of the wing down.
Here you can see that I have started to remove the building tabs from the bottom of the wing.
All the building tabs have been removed and sanded the bottom of the wing to ensure all is true before adding the bottom wing skin which is made up from 1/16th Balsa sheet.

Cheers Steve

Just tried to bind again.
I also have a mpm and I have tried D16 XJT Ch1-16 (18ms) and Ch1-8 (9ms) no joy
Also internal module D16 Ch1-16 (18ms) no joy.

Yes just testing if I can move most of the models of the internal onto the external.
If I can then I could update the internal module.
Thanks, for all the help so far.

Steve, further to my previous postings, I have just done a bit of experimenting.
I have some X8R receivers that I have flashed with Mike Blandford’s excellent UNI firmware. One of the additional benefits of doing this is that the firmware comes with a LUA script file called UNI Stats. Running this when the receiver is bound to a transmitter tells you, amongst other things, the exact protocol that the tx is using (ie V1 or V2, EU(LBT) or FCC). Brilliant!
Using this I have ascertained that (1) the internal RF module in my tx is V1EU (I did already know that) and (2) that the multi protocol module I have fitted has the facility to be set to all four combinations of D16 protocol, ie V1FCC, V1EU(LBT), V2FCC or V2EU(LBT).
I have just bound the same receiver to each of the four combinations in turn and it works fine on any.
Therefore, your new receivers will work with the MPM. You set the required protocol on your tx screen. D16 is V1, D16-2 is V2, then select either D16 or EU in the secondary menu.
If your MPM is old and doesn’t have the D16-2 option then you’ll need to update it’s firmware version.
Brian.
Forgive me what's MPM ?
Maybe my D8 would not bind on the external module as it reports that the receiver is already in use.

Just tested external module and I am using D8 on the external for some models and D8 on the internal module.
I have tried to bind a model that is on D8 internal to D8 on the external module and it will not bind. 🤔

I also have a multi module with Frsky protocol XJT not sure which version.

Just a thought - some receivers have trouble binding if the Tx is close. Might be worth a try moving the Tx a few feet away when binding.
Is there a possibility of an FCC/EU-LBT issue. ?
I would presume the Rx, if new, would normally be a V2 / LBT version.
And usually there is a label on the box showing this.
I did try moving my Tx further away no use. So I guess it would be V2 / LBT but no info in that regards.
My Radio FW is opentx-x9d+ V 2.2.3 don't really want to update it and lose connection to all my existing receivers.

Very neat build Stephen, glad to see you back at it, jeep up those quirky designs:)

Thanks,
I have received my order from Slec very good service from them nicely packaged and very quick too.
Only one problem and that was my fault 😩
Leading edge and triangle stock too small, should have ordered double the size than I did. 😩
So will have to put a fresh order in soon, not stopped the build for now as I already had Leading edges in stock top sheeting now on one of the wings.

Hi, I have bought two R6 mini E recivers from T9 but ca not bind them to my ACCST Taranis 9+ in D16 mode.
So I am guessing it a V1 V2 issue,
can I flash my Rx to Universal ACCST . ?>
Do i need to update the firmware on the Rx https://www.frsky-rc.com/archer-plus-sr6-mini-sr6-mini-e/
Cheers for any help.

And this is where I am at as I am waiting for some wood to arrive.

Once they have dried i un pin the wing from the board and fit the lower spars and once they have dried i turn the wing back over onto the building tabs and re pin the wing down and fit the webbing.
And once all that has dried i can fit the leading Edge.
And next is the false Trailing Edge.

I do not have a Lazar or CnC cutter but I do have a printer and a sharp knife 😉
So after cutting out all the Ribs i pin the to the building board over the top of my Wing Plan making sure all are positioned correctly and upright to the board I pushed my Pins through the ribs where the building tabs are to give better support and hold them straight.
Now my spars can be fitted.
At the same time i have slotted in my False leading and trailing edge.

And so i have started the build lets face it we can not do any flying here in the UK with all this bad weather we have been getting for the past few months.
I have altered my Ribs, made them a bit thicker and lowered the building tabs.
All my ribs fit onto one sheet 0f Balsa 4x36 and 2.5mm thick.
These are semi-symmetrical and have wash out built in.
