  2. Hi ,

Mine is now Complete and ready for its maiden.

I used foam to make up my Spats I may paint or try covering them later.

I did not have a long length of wire to reach the rudder so decided to do this instead as it also keeps the push wire neat and secure along the boom

This is where I put my Receiver to keep it away from the Esc and position the antenna at 90 degrees also away from the Esc.

I have opted for a heavier battery a 2550 3s 40c why not have a little longer flight time.

So I have the blades to finish off and balance, Push rod for the Rudder and Spats to fit.

Yesterday I got an email from the BMFA advising me that my CAA membership was expiring soon and asking me to renew it.

I logged into the BMFA portal and could see my CAA membership which runs to 21st Feb, and just in case I might forget if I left it I decided to renew then and there.

I selected the renewal, paid the the fee and got a success message on a couple of emails confirming registration and payment.

But when I checked in the portal it no longer shows that I have CAA membership.  I left it a day to see if it just needed a few hours to update but still nothing.  According to my portal I don't have CAA registration.

Anyone else seeing this - I did reach out to BMFA yesterday but haven't heard anything from them yet?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Yes, I had the same email,

Thought it was something I had not done correctly also check my portal.

I need to login again to see if anything has changed.

  6. Hi Richard,

I have been wait for the weather to be nice enough for me to go outside and do some sanding.

Blades and motor mount, hopefully tomorrow will get some sanding done.

I notice the other builder have used closed loop for the Rudder and added extra weight to the nose.

Looks like you are just using a push rod for your Rudder is that right.

And did you add weight to your nose. ?

  7. More wood than I currently have would of gone into making the spats so I have decided to try Depron.

    large.849045250_lowres.jpg.04572073e3dc210c8bbe525960f5b9f1.jpg

So above is 5mm Depron sheet.

    large.1768263540_spats1lowres.jpg.8abba503eaf34beb9dd3e3a3fd5b97ee.jpg

And seven layers of foam later

    large.811690254_Spats2lowres.jpg.3a3fc384be69232e2520bfbac319eafb.jpg

My foam wheels are 55mm in Diameter.

waiting to fully dry then I will add thin ply on the inside and out to allow a good fixing point.

Oh and sand of coarse 😜

  8. After much trouble with my Radio gear and Motor losing a gear I have managed to get this flying this weekend.

So problem with my receiver solved by calibrating the settings in my External Tx.

Replaced the Elevator/Pitch servo with a 5g servo and fitted a new Brushless motor.

Although this motor is not ideal as it is a high speed battery guzzler but at least I have managed to proof fly it.

Just need to find the best motor for this model.

  9. Hi,

I have also started this build with the kind permission Of Richard Harris.

Here are some of my build pictures.

    large.953139865_Gyroo2Parts.jpg.edf8731cf2583c94bbcfa86b53eda061.jpg

So here you can see the Tail plane and Fin along with the center core of the body. And the rest of the parts to be cut out of lite ply.

    large.1918128597_CutpartU.jpg.45fa73e05c4280d8e0954fbb4790760b.jpg

I find that the Liteply parts can easily be cut out with a Box Knife.

    large.744434794_CutPartU1.jpg.6c2a0dd63803296a77523ce948d17e73.jpg

    As Above.

    large.Body2.jpg.3b15ba77a2a0c3ef4a42ff5744e149e4.jpg

So thats the construction of the Body.

    large_Body.jpg.bd10d33e20df0fa67039941919a18965.jpg

This is a dry fit of the Battery tray and under carriage parts, I now need a wire bender to form the under carriage legs before I can assemble the rest of it.

    Cheers Steve.

Steve, it’s likely that the X8R receiver that you have has a different version of ACCST firmware to the transmitter. This has nothing to do with the version of Open TX operating system that your Taranis transmitter has.

There are four versions of ACCST firmware: Version 1 and Version 2, both with two variances for EU and elsewhere. If your receiver has a different version to your transmitter it won’t bind. Unfortunately there is nothing on your transmitter to tell you the version, unless it has a sticker on it (EU LBT) but you still have Version 1 or 2 to contend with, also the possibility that the transmitter version has been changed since it was made.

You have two options as far as I know.

Either load the receiver with each version of firmware in turn, attempting to bind it after each load, until you find the right one.

Or (better) load the new Universal firmware that doesn’t care which version of firmware is in the transmitter. This is a little bit more involved as you need to ask the distributor (T9 in the UK, or Aloft Hobbies) for an unlock code, but it works well.

Your other option would be to send the receiver to T9 and they will do it for a small charge plus return postage.

There is another thread on this forum on this very subject, titled ‘Universal Receiver ACCST Firmware’. Unfortunately I can’t work out how to include a link to it here (I’m just using a phone), but the most recent posting was only about four days ago, so you will be able to find it by looking back in recent posts.

None of the above will affect your transmitter and therefore your other receivers in any way.

    I hope that helps.

    Brian.

Thanks Brian I downloaded a firmware for the X8R from FrSky but it say its not compatible with 2.2.X .

So a bit stuck as to where I can get the firmware from.

  12. Hi, Hope someone can offer some help with a Receiver that will not bind to my Radio.

My Taranis x9D is currently on v2.2.3 and all my current Rx work fine I recently bought a X8R ACCST Rx and it will not bind I already have a X4R and X6R they works fine.

I think I am looking at updating the firmware in the Rx only so that I can preserve all my other Rx here is a list of what I have.

    Delta 8, V8R7-II, X4R, X6R, VD5M.

I can not get hold of the VD5M any more and as I use these for my indoor models I do NOT want to do anything that would result in me not being able to use these little Receivers any more.

I may have other types of Receivers as well.

Its Just this X8R ACCST Rx that I need to work.

    Cheers Steve.
