problem is you see some one with a abcxyz and you get the "I have to have one of those" mentality so you start looking building and it becomes an obsession. I hate to think of the money that I have parted with in this hobby todate. If wife found out she would have a wardrobe of new clothes a new kitchen etc. -
Well done guys might have a go this year if we can coordinate and examiner, The funny thing is we have an examiner in our club and the only time I have ever met him is at the AGM every year. Never seen him down at the field once, probably too busy testing every one else.

The balsa / ply absorbs the moisture and then bends and the glue if it is water based softens not a good Idea if there is a lot of moisture. Maybe you could seal them in bin bags to keep the moisture out.

Eric it's the same as the flying field if you crash in to some one else then you both crash but you don't need the "Bin Bag" it just restarts and you fly again. -

Hi all IHMO the way the flight sim works is you host the fly in on your computer and others come through the Internet and connect to your session. The Sim runs on ports 9000-9005 and is treated like a game when your PC send the request to my PC then the traffic from your PC hits my router and if the ports are not open on my router you don't get in, your blocked. So in a nut shell who ever is hosting the session needs to go on the web / read the router manual and set up port forwarding on their routers to let people connect to the session. as rActive said above Fire walls these are great but you must also let the firewall pass traffic for the same port numbers, to see if this the issue then turn off the firewall and if you then get in you need to read on how to let these ports come through on the firewall. Don't forget to turn it back on as some people have not discovered model flying yet and prefer to write malicious software. I have now opened these ports on my router so will host a fly in to night to test the set up. site is model.flying.co.uk password rcme 19:00 see you there. Phoenix uses UDP ports 9000 - 9005 to communicate online Port forwarding -

You need port 9090 open on your ISP router. I'll put on a password of RCME in capitals as last time loads of heli's turned up and my session crashed. See you ther. -

David suggested this a while ago on the Phoenix sim thread may be we should have a mail alias that you can subscribe to so that if any one wants to have a virtual fly in just schedule a time and let all those interested come along. Or we could get all a thread going called "Phoenix Virtual Flying" for those on Phoenix and then just post up times of when people want to come along and all meet up. You could have posted the same times ie "Monday 7-8pm Fred blogs fly in" and Fred sets up the venue and those interested join in just need to get the 1st few off the ground and it will soon be part of the regular line up. Combat will be fun and I am sure that the developers would love to have the feed back from our forum maybe even a sponsor ship deal of some sort where they host the sites etc. or they donate a few sims for prizes to our forum 10,000 potential customers carries a lot of weight me thinks I am up for it so count me in. -

BMFA committee members showing the correct distance for adjusting the needle valve using their new improved guidelines. Didn't really think that one through did you guys? -
Kelvin the spar wood does not seem to be the best quality I have seen, I think these kits from the far east are on the limit with a little bit of lee way but not a lot. The whole kit is usually very light construction and the minimum of extra reinforcement. I think that you may have had a weak spot which you would no have seen as the kit is pre covered and everything came together and it just gave way. Just my opinion, any way here is some thing to cheer you up here is my bothers Ultimate where the elevator linkage came off it just exploded on impact.

I run FF9 on the 2.4 and some times on 35mhz but I am now going 2.4. Cost is the big issue if I have invested £500-£1000 on a plane or heli if I crash I want it to be down to hardware failure or pilot error not interference. Where we fly we have a local telephone mask which I believe does sometimes affect the model but not 100% guaranteed, the bigger gas engines & electric also introduce interference but on the 2.4 I am immune, happy and converted as the only purchase now is receivers which is 5-10% of the total cost of the model well worth the investment in my opinion. My JR x347 is now attached to my flight sim still a good radio but the programming (not that I fully utilize it) is more feature rich on the FF9. Also will send an up date on the OSD (on screen display ) when it arrives for the FPV for all the telemetry on board information it is overlaid on the video down link from the plane.( been over 3 months now)
