  1. Hi Chaps Have looked at the OPTO 60A ESC from Overlander, but they also list the same unit as programmable from Tx. Anyone have any thoughts one way or other regarding programming card/ Tx programming. Cheers Daz
  2. From what I've read and seen of the kit so far, it seems as though the wing retaining clips being at the front of the joiner master section allow the movement of the rear section of the joint, allowing enough of a gap to cause problems with the servo connections. Maybe a dowel in the end of the CF wing bracing spars that marry up with the opposite wing spars, giving more rigidity to the joint. Or maybe somehow inserting elastic shock cords into the rear spars to keep tension on the rear of the joint while the clips take care of the front end. Am eagerly looking forward to hearing other peoples ideas or mods. As Cularis has only recently arrived I think I will source the other items required for the build first, allowing joint solutions to come forth before crossing the bridge myself.
  3. Cheers guys When Tamiya brought out the Rough Rider and the original Clod Buster way back in the dark ages bushless were unknown. Only fairly recently have the car world gone for brushless and as for the old salty seadogs of the boating lake 'tis witchcraft. Only asked as a matter of eliminating the question. Will go brushless!! and probably 3s LiPo, then there's the new charger and the ESC as well. If the wife complains I'll tell her you said so. Daz
  4. Please count me in. First time entering a comp here so maybe beginners luck will win out. A salute to Ross Harrison's comment about all the brave RAF novices who spent their training in a moth and the likes; only to be killed in action with less than a day of solo flight under their belts. Those are the boys that made Britain GREAT.
  5. Cheers chaps Servo extensions I was going to make to length and as far as I can see so far, there are 4 extensions required for the wings, and 4 to extend from the wing joiner connection to the Rx. Will have a look at the dimensions of the M'plex Nanos to see how much they differ from the SD200s I have as on offer-up, it would seem that the servo leads would have to be 'pinched/ bent' quite a bit to get them into the cable tray on the wing. Anyone have any comments on using brushed motors and suggest a suitable one, as I have various ones in the 'bits-n-bobs' box from car and boat models and ESCs to suit. Thanks to all who have given advice so far. I look forward to the summer when I can get some time to escape and go gliding. Daz
  6. Have had time to sit and read through instructions and do parts count, and there is an additional page stating that the servo plugs/sockets must be be connected during the gluing. Reading the comments on here I will make sure to pay particular attention to the wing joiners/ servo connections and try to make them as bullet proof as possible. Thanks Daz
  7. Hi David Thanks for the quick response. I asked as I was more concerned about the weight factors on wing loading as the recomended servos are half the weight. Am new to 'foamies', a lot different to tissue and dope; so could you please advise on the Cyano you would recomend and the kicker as there are so many various produts on the market and experience counts a lot higher than fact/ sales sheets. Once again many thanks Daz
  8. Hi chaps. I have just received my Cularis and was wondering if the Ripmax Micro SD200 servos I have in stock would be suitable for use in the wings as well as the fuselage, or do I need to buy a set of 8-9gram servos? Interesting point about the Multiplex cable set for the wing servo connection problem. Cheers Daz
