  1. A couple of years ago I bought myself a 6-channel micro heli, which I test-flew in our garage. As I hovered it at about 5 ft, my wife thought it would be a huge joke to turn the garage lights off. Amazingly we're still together, even after the barrage of intemperate language I hurled at her.

  4. I've just built a Skyfun, which I think is the same kit as the Roo, but from a different supplier. I found some forum posts where people recommended Gorilla Glue for it, so I bought a small bottle on Ebay and tried it. It seems very strong, but was a bit tricky to use as it expands quite a lot as it sets. If I did it again I'd use 24-hour epoxy (5-minute won't give you enough working time to align the wings to the fuselage properly). If you need to use cyano, one of the special foam-safe vareties should be fine, but try it on the box first if in any doubt. Normal cyano will definitely attack it.
  5. Anyone seen this incredible video on YouTube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?sns=fb&v=YQIMGV5vtd4&gl=GB   It won't be long before these things are cutting our lawns! @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  6. A regulator is to be avoided unless absolutely necessary, as it just wastes battery power and is one more thing to go wrong. I suspect the servos will be fine at 6.6V, but if you're worried about working them out of spec, why not drop the voltage by 0.6V by putting a silicon diode in series with the battery pack? I use P600M diodes which are rated up to 6A forward current, and put 3 in series to drop a 2s LiPo down to 6V or so. You should only need one with a 6.6V pack. They're available in small quantities on Ebay.
  7. I've started moving over to LiPo for both the Tx and Rx pack, mainly because I can fast charge them without having to worry what the initial state is (I don't have to discharge them first). This means I can make a spot decision to go flying, and be all charged up within an hour or so. And I don't miss a good flying day because I forgot to charge up overnight.@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  8. My best ever aerobatic sloper was a kit called The Slim Pig. A friend of mine designed a fun-flyer which was a bit like a Wot-4, so he called it a Y-Not.
