  1. I've removed the cowel now and refitted everything up so I'll take some pics for your analysis and try running it upside down...I've also ordered some fresh fuel. That should be with me on Monday. I looked into the exhaust extension but even JE didn't have one as long as I needed.
  2. Here's a video of the cutting out at full throttle. I think the starting issue is just glow driver related. https://youtu.be/8vOd7x87lHk
  3. Trust me it wasn't through choice....it would've taken some major reconstruction of the firewall to get it to fit even without the extra peice in the silencer. The glow plug access is on the right. If I have to remove the cowel which I'm a little loathed to do now I'll take a picture of it too just so you can see what I've done.
  4. I've uploaded some pics of the engine install in the Extra. I wondered if the exhaust being above the engine is effecting things.Edited By Snorbitz on 27/12/2018 22:04:23
  5. I'm using a separate battery for the starter so it shouldn't drag the voltage down under load. I've had a coffee and a read so time to try again with some of these suggestions and with the new glo driver.
  6. Lots to work through. I'm going to try another Glo system too as the plug does not glow overly well when out even though the little needle swings right over. On my glow panel which I'm about to try how much current should I dial up for a No3 plug?
  7. Mmm I've wondered about the fuel as that is also a few years old. It's been in its sealed bottle but it is a little old.
  8. I didn't think 2str engines had these...or am I missing something?.
  9. Hi Guys, I've just refitted an SC52 2stroke after a 3 year layup and its also has a brand new carb from JE. Old one was missing a part. Started just fine, idled perfect and mid range ok but it will not run at WOT. Just cuts out....this happened a few times and now it won't run at all. It's a new model with the plumbing checked and double checked. Scratching my head a bit. I've gone to 2,5 out on the needle, tried a new plug but still nothing. Very odd.Any ideas?.
  10. Cheers chaps....that might be just the ticket. Kind Regards Paul
  11. Hi guys I've got a bit of an exhaust dilemma. My SC52 only fits at 90degs to the vertical (lying on its side) in its new home so a standard muffler would require cutting into the firewall....not my first option of course. Is there an exhaust option to deal with such an installation?Edited By Snorbitz on 09/10/2018 10:14:26
  12. Ok I'll go with 99mm unless advised otherwise and let you know how it goes....or not. Lol. Cheers.
  13. Mmm GDB indeed I've just checked my instructions against the Seagull website instructions and while my copy says 99mm back from the LE the online version says 75mm...that's a heck of a difference. Do you remember by any chance where you started and from the sound of it sadly ended?. I've flown a few out of balance planes in the past through dodgy instructions and it's not for the faint hearted. Now super nervous. Nose heavy is of course preferable to the alternative but I'm wondering did you balance yours upside down or rite way up?. Kind regards Snorbitz
  14. Hi GDB, I've just bought one of these to replace my Pulse XT40 which I sadly lost recently. I know your post is 4y old but how'd you get on with the model. Any tips you'd care to share?. Mines sitting on the building bench awaiting some attention. Just thought I'd ask before I start. Cheers Paul
  15. Hi gliding gurus. I have a little question. Im new to this gliding lark and so far im very happy. Ive invested in a Radian Pro as my start into this area of the sport and it comes with a nice folding prop system. And thats where my question comes from. Even though ive powered off after climbing my prop wont fold back and continues to spin all be it very slowly. Even as i drop flaps for a slow landing its still spinning?. Thankfully i havent broken a prop....yet. All the videos ive watched show the prop folding back. Whay could be wrong?. kind Regards Paul
  16. So I find this old photo of me in around Ooooo 1985ish with my first ever 2ch glider. Can anyone put a name to it for me?. As I said 2ch with a heavy fibreglass Fuz and standard balsa sheet covered wings. I'd love to know what it was. Flew like a pig probably as it was so heavy. Thanks GuysEdited By Snorbitz on 26/08/2015 02:03:24
  17. Just a quick question. Can a 2.4ghz module be fitted to a JR X378. 35MHZ set?.
  18. I moved to New Zealand a few years ago and left poor old Mum n Dad back in Blighty...they would dearly like to treat me to something model orientated rather than just "sending me the money" which is of course very kind of them. They now live by Redditch in the west midlands and i've no idea if there's even a LMS for them to go into....i'm hoping someone on here will be able to offer a suitable shop for them to go to...who knows Dad might even be tempted himself. I'm a flyer of warbirds and sport models alike and having just replaced my radio gear with the 2.4ghz futaba flavour gear a little reciever would be a nice small and easy to post option don't you reckon?. PS, how miffed am i that the first RCME to wing its way down here after i bought my new gear in early December shows the free extra reciever offer with the Futaba 10J tranny i've just been and bought. GRRRRRRR. sorry bit off topic.
  19. Is that a full range jobby?. I'll have to check that out. Cheers
