  1. Jonathan I like the look of the little Tony Nijhuis spitfire looks like a good size to start with. Has anyone built one??
  2. That was an interesting flight!!! I discovered the colour of adrenaline and yes it is brown!! I flew my javalin 1st and was a little put off about flying it as i couldn't feel my thumbs!! But nothing ventured............... This is the 1st EDF i have flown It looks stunning in the air once i got it trimmed out. Ended up with a bucket load of right aileron and up elevator to get it straight and level . Then after that i brought it in to land on the drop tanks !! A little epoxy needed now oops. The flight lasted about 5 mins or so i think not sure cos i forgot to put my timer on (Muppet) So that was the only light today. It really flights well once trimmed just glued the drop tank on and fitted the undercarriage to see how it handles our grass strip. Don't think you could fly it in really windy conditions but it was OK with a 10-12 mph breeze today. I would put a pic in of it but they are all to big in size to post! Timbo you dont need one but you should get one all the same great fun!!
  3. Time for the maiden flight of my Graupner Eurofighter tomorrow!!!! Wish me luck
  4. Myron All ive built and flown is ARTF so far. Flying wise been passed my Bronze in August (up in Sunny (freezing) Scotland) So i want a project challenging but not impossible for a first build. I was thinking of something with pre cut CNC stuff. Im pretty good when it comes to building things aircraft technition by trade so it comes in handy to be able to throw tools around Andy I'm interested in more WW2 stuff but some of the WW1 stuff looks great. Size wise nothing more than a 60 size really. I did like the look of Tonys Hurricane with a nice 4 stroke in it. But was wondering if it would be a little ambitious for a 1st kit build. Been following your DVII build looks really good have you flown it yet? Andy
  5. I'm wanting to build something from a plan but dont have a clue which one i would like to build a war bird if the money is right. Some advice on which kits are good, bad and indifferant would be great. I dont think Tony's massive Lank would be a great place to start her in doors would kill me!!! Cheers Andy
  6. I pranged my thunder tiger trainer yesterday!!! Going to do the same it was the back end that was trashed and the firewall came off. Gives me something to do!!
  7. Just a quick question can i paint foam aircraft with Tamiya acrylic paints? I got a Graupner Eurofighter for Christmas and want to tart it up a little!! Cheers for your help.
  8. I got a Graupner Eurofighter EDF looks great just need to buy some lipos and another reciever!!
  9. Just thought i would put this on early and find out what models everyone got under the tree??
  10. I'm thinking of getting en EDF after christmas and i was wondering where the best place is to get lipos? Any advice would be great. Cheers Andy
  11. Derek I'm not sure but i cant see why it wouldnt work. Could you  not just wire them straight into a battery with there own switch and just turn them on when you turn the plane on? Andy
  12. Kelvin  I will take loads of pics when i get my bum into gear!!  Fredrico You need a Y lead coming from your U/C chanel on your RX and cut the positive cable to the plug going into the RX then plug the servo and the battery into the other 2 remaining plugs. Make sure you cut the positive one though not like my first attempt!! Needless to say it didnt work!! Hope this helps Andy
  13. Sorry chaps the poor 109 is still sat in bits waiting to get built!!! Need to get my bum into gear and get it finished!! I was thinking about the OS surpss 70 for mine. Ive got a spectrum DX 7 and i'm using the servos that came with in. Asfor the retracts i've got a hitec retract servo for it. I'm going to wire the retracts in on a single battery and a seperate one for the RX. Hopefully i will get it sorted over the christams break. Jeff how did you find the retracts to install and set up? I imagine they are roughly the same as in my 109? Cheers  Andy
  14. Martin. Have you flown it yet? Are the wheels and under carriage legs ok for a grass runway? Must admit the kit does lok good. Andy
  15. Dave I asked on here if anyone had one VQ model and somebody said they were re-branded from Air Loisors models (i'll go with your spelling!!) As i'm new to this hobby i had never heard of them. Were the Air Loisors models any good??
  16. I saw these in the latest issue of RCM&E and loved the look of it so i decided to get one!! So I thought i would do a blog of the build. I intend to put an OS 70 Surpass in it. I know this wont be as good a blog as some of the kits that are getting built on here but as a first blog i thought i would give it a go. First impressions of the kit are really good. The manual could be a little better but its good enough to do the job. It feels solid and well built the only thing i might do is give the fire wall and fuel tank bay a dollop of varnish to fuel proof it a little better. I got the retracts for it they were only £15 for the mechanical retracts that VQ made for this kit so i thought why not. The covering is solid and looks good. I know its shiny but i think it still looks good. The ailerons are already fitted to the wings along with the wheel wells. I think i will try and get the majority of the retracts fitted before i join the wings. It looks as if it will be a bit tricky to do it all with them joined. The fin and tail plane look simple enough to fit with plenty of epoxy. It even comes with a pre painted pilot and some guns to stick in the cowl. All in all im very impressed with my first look over it. I will try to take plenty of photos as i build. Andy
  17. Does anyone know anything about these models? I saw them in Nov's mag at sloughrc and liked the look and price of the 109. Would love to know a little more about the quality of these. Cheers for any help  Andy
  18. I know this isn't the helicopter forum page but i think i should share this. I prefer flying planes (because i cant fly my helicopter!!) but i went in to my local model shop and had a go with the Blade MCX. This thing is so small but it flies so well. I couldn't resist getting one. I'm sure a lot of aircraft people will turn there noses up at this but just give it a try first they are so much fun. Its a fantastic little thing to have a laugh with.
