OK new Flash 2540 props came in today. I just did a simple thrust test on my scales by holding the nose down onto the plate and letting it rest gently, ie no down pressure.
After subtracting the model weight I'm getting 141 g. Obviously not scientific , but 3 tries I'm getting the same output.
If I hold this in my hand pointed vertical, I'm certain it would want to fly away and accelerate! Unbelievable power!
I just need to be careful that on launching it doesn't torque roll. Maybe launch nearer half throttle.
Very happy with the power!!
Gemfan Flash 2520 prop has slightly bigger diameter than the prop in the previous photos.
Crazy mad power in such a tiny package.Edited By Matt Halton on 16/01/2019 14:27:06

And here's the mechanics. Not much. 2 servos are housed in the upper shell under the turtle deck.

The business end. Power is from a micro quad brushless motor. She weighs 91 gr RTF. Puts out 160 gr of thrust.
Thanks Ken. Will know if this works next week for her maiden flight

Hi guys.
I built this small pusher jet over the winter and finally got a test flight.
I've got some video and photos.
Intend to now build another but bigger with 2 x 40 or 50 mm EDF units.
This model has just 3 servos including flaperons.
I hope you like!!

Thanks everyone
Awaiting weather now. Also toying with a very light (mostly wood of course!)4th build..
But twin EDF's.Not large though.
The Lightning is from a Green Air kit ( can't get them anymore ) Not my build but will be my finish
Thanks for your positive comments.
The Bucc should go well with a weight of 700 g and motor thrust of 920 g..
I wish someone would produce kits. -

Spinner stayed put too which was good news
Here's a video showing the power and control testing.Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 10/05/2018 13:01:25

Thanks Ade.
Well more news. Set up the radio now have working flaperons, plus did motor testing. Full power onto scales shows 900 grams on a 3s 2200. The model weighs 700 grams with the battery on board.
That's on a 6x4 prop but with that power have some leeway.
Another modeller suggests trying a 5 x 5.5 prop which will give more speed at less throttle plus less torque.
So will likely change it before testing.
It's a small machine at 25" span.Edited By Matt Halton on 09/12/2017 12:43:54

Thanks guys. Glad you like, am still working on the other wing. Just finished the second 20 boundary layer flow ejectors and now onto more panelling and subtle weathering. Never ends does it?
Another Maxford Airco DH-2, but with FPV

Thanks guys, glad you like! Good to hear flying characteristics are good, I'm going to set up ailerons with differential, and use the rudder to help around turns. Here's a video ground test and some pics from early on in the build. https://youtu.be/zqdyTcPl6cg
And here's the pilot in action too.
Your DH-2 looks lovely Michael, from your own plans.. Very nice, do you have a YouTube link please?
