  1. Where are you at Chris? Ken
  2. Hi Eric. The Highway ave is an access road into the north west industry area as there is only 2  points to get off the  Trans Canada Highway. In the 70's there were plans of expanding the industry area to the south and west. But after the BIG oil crash in 83, all that was  forgotton. You can see my slope "face" on the east side of the HAT at : 50.03,34,44 north by 110.37,07,50. I have sloped to over 2,000 ft and been well over the west side of the river . Have to get a pic on here tomorrow. 2 km to the north east of redcliff is the R/C field I fly at. I see there is no R/C fields listed near you! Ken
  3. According to NASA's global observer sat,you are farther north than me.On a search of Cheshire, your location was given as 53.18 N  by 2.52 W  , while I am at 50.07 N By 110.79 W. I think the issue is light as well as air polution. Looking at the map from 6 mile's up, I couldn't count the number of town's shown, Yet here for that same 6 mile's up there are 6 town's,4 of witch have less than 100 people. Ken
  4. Love the song. most of those pics could of been taken in my back yard. Spent MANY a night laying in the cool grass and watching the Ancestor's. Ken
  5. After running the Futaba 6 EXA for a bit better than 2 month's, I will NEVER go back to 72 mhz. And I've thru as much interferance at it as I could, and at just over a mile I was still in complete control. Best part is my radio is now able to be used anywhere in the world. I like that. Ken
  6. Hi Shaun. Stampede will be started by the time you read this. I will make a fast run to Cow Town to watch the parade at noon here( 7:00pm your time). YEE HAA!!!!! I may even stop in at CowBoy's for a pint or two(prince Harry fancy's the place as well ). Ken
  7. As they say south of the  49th   "You Da Man!!!!" Ken
  8. Typical day here is 20 to40 mph. I will get a pic or 2 of "the face"  where I fly. Ken
  9. A .40 fs ?? A Tad bit nose heavy I'm thinking. My OS .30fs is 355 grams, while my OS FP .15 with Touge muffler is a massive 112 grams. And the .15 will spin the same size prop faster! The .15 Diesel is near the same power(9X4 prop at 13,000) but gets just shy of 25 minutes run time on 2 oz of fuel. PAW makes a wonderfull .15 bushing diesel. Ken
  10. It's a shame these kits are no longer made. they fly so nice. Ken
  11. Ok, Ive read the factory write up on both. At 2.6 m I do like the size and the price is good: $99 for the Discus with $150 for the Ventus. Hopefully Andy Ellison will reply( I loved the Slope Arsenal write up ,a very eye opener!!) Ken
  12. Slope soaring sim???  I could use one on those cold -40c days. Ken
  13. OK so anybody have a pic of a P2?  How is it differant from the 4,5,and 6? Ken
  14. I was looking at getting one,but was conserned with the quality as it is selling on-line here for $99 thats about 48 quid. Kind of puts it in the "you get what you pay for" catagory. I may have to phone to ask about return issues. The pic's sure look good tho. Ken
  15. GEEZ!!  For slope soaring I still use my old Futaba FG series radio's from the 80's in both wide band AM as well as the later narrow band FM set's. I like the feel of the sticks on the old girl's better than the new one's. All on 72 mhz over here. Ken
  16. This was the free plan set that came in the Radio Control Scale Aircraft magazine, issue feb/march 1993. I need the wing, fin, tail plane plans that were in the april/may 1993 issue . Ken
  17. Thanks David. Going with an OS FP .10  in mine, with a flat wing and a steering tail wheel. Ken
  18. If you can,run the plans to a photo shop and have them enlarged by 144%. this will give you a 72 inch(2m) size from the little 50 inch stock kit. Ken
  19. Another option if you realy want to stand out from the mass's is to install a Davis Diesel head on your motor. They sell them for the OS .15 FP,LA,FX, as well as the Thunder Tiger .15 GP  for $50 us. Thats about 25 quid? Ken
  20. It is not legal to  purchase  either in liquid form here as it is a prohibited substance!   As its used in the production of  heavy drugs(crack, coke, meth and the like). Thats ok ,as I get near 1/2 a liter of either from the large John Deere can's. Ken
  21. Hi Matthew. I run the old 30 X 30 X 30 mixture:  1/3 liquid parafin = used in lantern's and and fancy candels(come in a selection of sents,I like the strawberry) 1/3 pure caster oil( NOT the medical stuff, you need fuel grade caster oil) 1/3 pure either     I get mine out of spray cans of automotive starting fluid(John Deere tractor can's are 96% pure either!!!) I capture the either by spraying the starting fluid on the inside wall of a CHILLED glass pickle jar(note keep the lid ready,as it WILL evaporate right now.  and do this out side unless you want to go to sleep while working and ABSOLUTLY NO SMOKING or NASA will have to bring you back down.  Love to be able to run a PAW Ken
  22. I have a .15 Silver Swallow Diesel(china copy) that will be just perfect as a diesel often will swing a bit larger prop then glow. And blending my own fuel is way cheaper than buying a jug of glow fuel at $60 for 15% nitro Ken
  23. Not sure if local shops carry it but the House of Balsa   2X4 kit is good as is or build without the poly style wing and add ailerons in place of the rudder. I loved mine till a Golden Eagle had it as an inflight meal. Ken
  24. Howdy ALL. Out here in the wild wild west just east of Calgary.(any of the troops that have been to BATUS,knows the place) . Been flying model's since 1983,I fly: control line, RC from 2 channel 1/2a stuff to 1/4 scale gasser's, Thermal as well as a heap of slope soaring. The local news shop has been selling RCM&E for a few months now, SMASHING mag,I just love it. When can we get a set of plans for a 1 to 1.5 meter sloper in there?? A guy can only build so many electric Flip Flops. Later! Ken
