  1. Just to make you feel better there mate, it's only a few month's till old man winter show's up.   Ken
  2. I'm thinking that she could use a set of wing strut's.  Just dosn't look right without them,Tho it does look good as always.   Ken
  3. With out seeing the plan( I will not get it for another month or so),the sandwich method is about the easyest way to do a taper'ed rib profile. What I have done at time's is to add a sacrificial rib ( marked with a black felt tip marker) in between each of the REAL rib's. This make's the taper not so abrupt. And the marked rib's are used any time I need a scrap piece as a filler somewhere.     Hope this works for you.   Ken
  4. Looks like it is going to be a real winner for those lite lift soaring day's. Thinking of building mine as a pure glider, tho I may do one with a brushless up front as well.   It's nice to see a glider in the plan's line up (what took so long???) ,it goes well with the CL and  Float Plane plan's to show the diversity of this hobby, other than just Depron 3D FunFlyer's.       Ken    Edited for language:  Chris Edited By Chris Card - Moderator on 26/04/2010 06:53:00
  5. Thanks a bunch.  Yup it was January 77 issue.   http://www.payhost.net/modelling/acatalog/RCME_January_1977.html     Ken
  6. Anyone have info on where the write up (it was in some magazine, was it not?) for the Seychelle slope soarer.       Ken
  7. Ok so here is what I plan on doing. For $88(56.4GBP) I couldn't resist buying another Salto. Instead of using the V tail, I will build a  Libelle style tail. The wing's will be rebuilt adding Schempp-Hirth type spoiler's and will be stretched from 2.515m to 2.844, this will give the proper dimention's for the 15m wing.   Should be an interesting project     Ken
  8. HA HA !!  I have found a canopy for this old girl.   Great Planes  U-Can Do 3D  .60 ARF. And it costs a wopping $7.49   I will keep you all posted as to the fitting as it goes.   Ken
  9. Has any of you fine gent's built the Celeste #RM212, from the plan's available from "My Hobby Store.com". I have a plan set on it's way, and would like to get all the part's ready. What is used for the canopy? It looks like it may be a standard SIG 15 or 16 inch bubble type.       Ken
  10. I know it is better to have bottom hinged flap's. But what I would of liked is to have them with a proper bottom pinned hinge so that the upper surface is sealed when the flap's are in the full up position.   ken
  11. It arrived friday and is of much better workmanship then my CMP Discus or Fly Fly Salto. Tho there are a few tiny hick-up's. But it sure is BIG at 4056mm span. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-80012.jpg   http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-80015.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-8006.jpg Shame that the flap's are hinged on the bottom. But I can fix that easy enuff.     Ken Edited By Ken Latam on 24/05/2009 03:39:44 Edited By Ken Latam on 24/05/2009 03:42:09
  12. I  liked it better before, thinking you guy's were GOD'S!!!!   Not just regular modeler's with some cool TOY'S     Ken
  13. A boat chandlery won't help me here as the nearest big body of water is near 2,000 km away.   rats.   Ken
  14. Mine is set at 54mm back at the root rib.  And it flys brilliant with little tendancy to tip slall. i found the stock 60mm setting ok for glass smooth lift,  but if it was any sort of ruff air,  it was very un-pleasent to fly at anything other than flat out.   Hope this helps.   ken
  15. It maybe a bit tuff to find on this side of the pond tho .     Ken
  16. it`s going to be real handy for repairing the belly`s of those eggshell China scale sloper`s.     Ken
  17. After speeking to the Trexler people,Will need to use the 2 3/4 wheel's as the 2 1/2 and smaller are made with very thin rubber for use on plane's of much less than 1 lb while the 2 3/4 are rated for 6 to 8 lb max. That extra 1/4 inch stll looks good.     ken
  18. Hi Phil.  Where would be the best place to get Canadian Bush Plane tire's??? But in Canada of course!!!      Try www.GreatHobbies.com/rcaircraft.   The 2 1/2 inch are about right.  These price's are in Canadian $,so to get the price in the Queen's Coin, multiply by .56 . So $15.99 will be about 8.95 quid.   Hope this helps.   Ken
  19. one thing I see is the forward fuz and cowl were not quite perfectly round, ( it did have an 18 cylinder radial engine after all) but had a very slight egg shape with the longer side facing down. Other than that it looks bvery good. Ken
  20. I don't think nose weight will be an issue.  These are the wheel's I am going to use, made by Trexler. The more I look at them, the more I think a tail dragger is the way to go.  pic   This is a Cessna 180 with the same style Bush Wheel's. Funny looking but VERY effective on soft or ruff ground.    pic ken Edited By Ken Latam on 27/03/2009 01:54:31 Edited By David Ashby - RCME moderator on 09/05/2009 06:18:07
  21. After a lot of soul searching,I'm thinking that a Tiger pattern will be much less demanding than the thousand of differant spot's on the leopard.   http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/Panthera_tigris_amoyensis.jpg     Tho I am debating whether to go with the stock tail drager or tricycle gear! A lot of the single engine African Bush plane's I have found run tricycle gear(Cessna 172/185 etc)   Ken Edited By Ken Latam on 26/03/2009 04:07:11 Edited By Ken Latam on 26/03/2009 04:08:13 Edited By Ken Latam on 26/03/2009 04:10:14 Edited By Ken Latam on 26/03/2009 04:12:04
  22. There is an OS .30 four stroke going in the nose of mine. And I just have to go with a Leopard pattern on it to go with the low pitch purr of the .30   Ken Edited By Ken Latam on 24/03/2009 03:57:17 Edited By Ken Latam on 24/03/2009 03:59:33
  23. She flys wonderfull but don't let her slow down. And keep the control throw's down as it is a scale ship not a 3D type. let me knoe if you want me to list the mod's most of us have done to improve it that little bit more.   ken
  24. i everyone. While flying my Salto yesterday, it started to act unusual. Almost like it was getting hit with interference. when suddenly the right side ruddervator said good bye. It was all I could do to get it down in one piece.   Apon examining the tail assembly, it was discovered that there is NO epoxy or ca holding them on to the center block piece. They are just slide onto the spar and tack ca'd.   I recomend anyone that has one of these to remove a small amount of covering from the bottom seam an apply a very large amount of of thin ca to bond them  http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/IMGP0099.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/IMGP0100.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/IMGP0103.jpg     Ken
