Super new test flight for my Mini Lidl Biplane!
Bonzo Moon posted a topic in All Things Model Flying
Super new test flight for my Mini Lidl Biplane! Amazing what you can do with a couple of £5 foamies and some cheap rc parts. Build blog is linked at the end. -
A couple of weeks back I asked for suggestions for my next Lidl build after creating 10 big Lidl's and 4 mini Lidl's, including twins, 4 motors and biplane. I had a few suggestions, but in the end decided on something I hadn't tried before, a swept wing design somewhat inspired by the Hawker Hunter! (Hence the attempt at a silver finish (fail) and RAF roundels. She flies! Used a very cheap power train package from Banggood which has a 1104 motor, 5A esc, prop and prop saver. Works ok with a 1s and the FS2A rx. Link in video description. Very short and quick build blog and I've just seen these little foamies on Temu at less than £2. The question now, what next again? Swept wing BIG Lidl I think?

Here's a quick look back at some of my last 14 Lidl and mini Lidl cheap foamie RC builds, plus a heads-up regarding my latest idea. (Hint. Swept wing.) Coming soon 😊. Watch this space!

Finally after all the problems and frustrations I had with this build, including the train wreck maiden, I enjoy a blisteringly good 2nd 'maiden'! 2nd test after I'd trimmed was amazing. Quick, stable and very maneuverable.,I'd say this is the best of all my 9 Lidl RC conversions. Motors, props and other details are in the build blogs and in video description.

My Lidl fusi foamboard Vulcan had another test flight. It flies well but really needed a motor upgrade. Watch this space, a new test will be coming soon with bigger motor fitted!

My 2019 first Lidl RC conversion (I've now down 8 ) has had a much needed makeover. Part of the issue was with the big motor up front I'd had to mount the lipo on top of the fusi above the main spar. I got round it a bit by shortening the nose. Still looks ok I think? What do you reckon? Plus there's a useful tip!
