Hi all! I obtained a quarter scale Sopwith Pup a while back. It was equipped with a Saito fg33r3 radial with a faulty ignition system..... I replaced the ignition system and installed the rest of the electrics. I balanced it at 145 mm, and it works okay there. I flew it today, and wow what an aircraft. Sure, I had to trim a lot of down and a few clicks right aileron, but it flies very scale like. The sound of the radial is very mesmerizing! The loops were quite big, so the power is "enough"... I use a wood 17X8 propeller. The fuel is alkylate petrol with 7% Stihl HP Ultra oil.

Hi, My last second hand "bargain" is a Saito Black Knight with a CH-ignition kit on it, its performance is very weak against my Methanol version, only 7.400 rpm on a Master Airscrew 16 x 8 that my methanol Saito 150 gives me 8.900rpm on 10% nitro, the zamac carburetor looks like a measly 6.5 mm, any idea what ID of the Morris mini motors one is ?. https://www.morrisminimotors.com/saito-fa-150a-single-cylinder-4-stroke-engine-carburetor-conversion-kit-safa150a-3.html CH-Ignitions give a 30° advance, I think that my 2 stroke petrols are around 26° I will look at it this morning.

I've just removed the backplate from an un-run Saito 62B, only to find a crack all the way across the conrod to a depth about 1/4 of the thickness. I have two of these engines, both new and un-run, so I looked in the other - exactly the fault! I contacted MacGregor but they were not aware of this issue and directed me back to the supplying model shop. Has anyone else seen this in 2020 vintage Saito engines?
