Corporate stupidity disease

The larger a company is the more stupid it seems to be.
I'm quite lucky in working for a small company without a large
management heirarchy, where everybody can speak to anybody
else more or less on equal terms.
I used to work for a large electronics manufacturer - back when
Britain had such things. There was a huge management chain &
department after department all the way up to the site MD.Beyond the
MD were the mandarins at the head office - almost untouchable.
This large web of control necessitated formal systems & procedures
just to keep the place functioning.
Patronising slogans & 'mission statements' were posted all over the
place.
The impression from all of this was that employees couldn't be trusted
to do a good job through a will to do their best, but that they needed to
be continually cajoled into working.
Some companies might have a 'Company policy', but beware ones
with a 'Mission Statement'.

That's that off me chest.
