Robin Kearney
Hi, I'm looking for some advice, I'm about to start putting together my first Nitro model for some years, I've been flying mostly electric for the last 5 years. The model in question is one of the new Ripmax Wot 4's. I've got most of what I need but I'm wondering about servo choice and what sort of battery pack I should put in the model. I was going to stick with my normal Hitec servers, do people think that standard servos will suffice?
David Ashby - Moderator
Std size stuff all round is fine for a normal size WOT4 Robin. A normal (say 800-1000mAh) Rx pack is again fine although if you can squeeze a bigger pack then so much the better. Pop a search and you'll find some lengthy builders threads on the type here too. Robin Kearney
Thanks for the quick response David. I forgot to mention, is there any advantage with digital servos for general sport flying? I don't really understand the difference between Analogue and Digital when it comes to servos!
Steve Houghton 1
Hi Robin I have a Wot 4 and just use ordinary, standard Futaba 3003 servo's all round and it's fine. As for battery choice? Go with what David says above. I've been using the 6v 2000mah Eneloop packs in all my planes now, but that's just my preference. David Ashby - Moderator
Digitals are more precise Robin and usually a tad more powerful too but their effect will be largely lost on the WOT4 (not disparaging the model of cpourse) - a bit like fitting a Rolls Royce engine into a Mini. As Steve says, you can get very small 2000mAh cells now so the higher capacity the better, I like Eneloops too.
