Ron Wylie
Can anyone suggest a good, economical (cheap) prop balancer for use with the smaller (5" to 6") propellers please ? I spent £10 on a Slec balancer which does not seem to do a very good job.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I use the Great Planes magnetic balancer - a bit more expensive (not that much though) and it works really well. What's the problem with the SLEC one? I've used one of them as well in the past - and while I'd say its not as good as the magnetic balancers - it was OK. Ron Wylie
The Slec one seems very poorly made is is light and flimsy. No matter how I try it does not balance 5" electric props. I can see that it would be good with heavier, larger props but not for the smaller ones
Ben B
Is it necessary to use one at all? I must admit I never bother. Whether it's crazy fast 40krpm electric props of big old glow ones. I'm not sure with modern manafactuering techinques it's strictly necessary. I may be wrong but I see no down-sides to not using one.
