Warbirds Hurricane 61

Sorry just saw this thread, The model is covered completely with Sig Koverall which is a shrinkable nylon type covering, and then doped to seal it before priming & spraying. I need to update my pictures, but here is a few pic's of the finished model (well i think the canopy & exhaust's needed gluing on still) It's still awaiting it's maiden flight though

hi Al,

No, It hasn't flown yet, The weather has been terrible for a long time around here with no sign of any let up! My flying fields are like bogs at the moment. The Hurricane is quite a heavy model and will need a good clean run to get it off, so it would be silly of me to risk it in less than perfect conditions. It looks like it's been given a reprieve until next year now

Still, Building the Tony Nijhuis Typhoon is keeping me busy during the wet spell. It will probably be finished before i get a chance to fly the Hurricane, so i should end up with two warbirds to maiden together!

Cheers,

Walts.

I found your thread whilst looking for anything pertaining to a Hurricane kit.

Your model looks the dogs dangly bits but nowhere can I find out if it`s a kit or a plan.

I have the Brian Taylor plan and am considering buying the ribs etc. from one of the lazer

cutting companies. However, having seen yours as an alternative could you give me contact details for the kit supplier.

Regards,

Roy

Hi Roy, & thanks for the compliment.

The Hurricane was built form one of the old 'Warbird replica' kits. I don't believe they are still being produced anymore. The kit it's self was a simple foam core veneered wings and verneered deckings, But took a considerable amount of 'altering' and finishing to get it as it is now.

The BT plan is an excellent choice, and 10" bigger wing span. If i were building it, I'd defo. go for the CNC kit, there is a hell of a lot of notches on formers etc. to cut out otherwise, and it builds in to a superb model with everything in the right place to start with

Hi Jim ,

No import duty as such but VAT can sometimes be charged - just depends on how lucky you are when it goes through customs. Notification can come from carrier to pay before delivery , or sometimes afterwards as a separate bill , depends on carrier used.Ordering from Bob Holman is still way cheaper than buying from uk and couldn't be easier. I've recently ordered 5 kits and a set of plans from him , no problem and the lot didn't come to more than £200 ! inc vat ! There's value and quality.
