mmmm will this take a frsky module and rx ,anyone have this ?

From what I have been reading, the guys who fly this radio for small electric planes tend to stay with the standard RF module and software. The receivers are very cheap but they are a bit large and there is not much choice. However reports are pretty good if you can get them to bind. There have been quite a few reports of the standard FlySly system having problems binding. But if the bind they seem to work.

Those who tend to fly larger planes, giant scale, thermal and slope gliders, glow and gas planes tend to enhance the radio. They add the smartparts board, go to ER9X or one of the other firmware upgrades and change over to the FrSky system. The receivers are more expensive but still 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the name brand stuff. There is a large selection of receivers and full telemetry is available. These are the guys who would normally buy a higher end radio so the $180 (US) that it takes to fully upgrade it is 1/2 to 1/4 the price of the radio they would normally buy.

There is a USA distributor of FrSky, www.alofthobbies.com and of course www.hobbyking.com has them too. I don't know if there is a UK distributor.

Hobbyking will be opening a warehouse in England sometime this year. At present they are available from Hong Kong (duty payable) or from their German warehouse (duty paid), This includes the Frsky, etc modules.

Smartieparts board (with backlight) is available only from Canada at $45 US - it only requires manual fitting (no soldering required)
