Rimmerrail
Could someone please tell me the difference between the hacker x-40 and the x-40 SB pro please.
James M
Hi The SB on an ESC usually indicates that it has a switched bec as opposed to a linear bec. Switched becs usually give more current and voltage to the radio gear, as well as producing less heat. Have a look at the following on link wiki as to the differences between linear and switching voltage regulators. A bec just a voltage regulator by another name! Rimmerrail
Thanks for that, my next question is do I have to have a separate bec(voltage regulator) if I only have the hacker x-40?
James M
You shouldn't do - most linear becs will handle 3-4 servos with adequate cooling. As a guide the following is usually seen on esc to determine the type of bec they have - "nothing!" usually a linear bec, but not always. "SB" Switched/switching Bec "Opto" No bec - needs a separate bec/voltage regulator. But I'd always, always say that reading the manual is the only way to be sure for sure!
