NeilP
Hi there, This is definitely a beginners question. I am setting up the control throws for a new Parkzone Spitfire IX on my Futaba T6EX. The throws are given in mm in the Parkzone Manual, but the Futaba setup represent them as percentages. How do I convert the mm to %? Thanks in advance
Phil Cooke
Hi Neil, The instructions on the Spit refer to the recommended physical amount of movement required on your flying surfaces (typically measured at the widest point of the aileron or elevator) - how much the servos have to move to achieve that deflection depends on the geometry of the servo, its servo arm and connecting horn on the flying surface. These parameters will dictate what actual percentage movement you dial in to your Tx. This relates to both rate positions, rates ON and rates OFF. Generally I set rates ON to 60% of rates OFF movement, but that, again is subject to the type of model and the flying style of the pilot. Set the model up and with the stick pushed over to full deflection, dial back the rates adjust until you get the mm movement you require. Do this for Rates OFF and rates ON.
