scott finnie
Hi all , i was wandering if anyone has experience with these servos? I bought 10 of these on a whim since it looked like a good deal! I fitted 3 into a scratchbuild supercub , it has a 53cm span and is very light and using rudder/elevator and single servo ailerons, i went to take it out today for its maiden flight and as i was doing my pre flight the elevator jamned down and the rudder jamned hard right, i couldnt see visually what was wrong so headed home, to find that they both had stripped there nylon gears!!! now i know they where cheap but i'd have expected them to have atleast worked, have i a bad batch or is this why it was such a good deal? I have taken them out and swapped for 3 spektrum digi's and got a lovely 8 minute flight in what seemed like a summers day earlier! but not sure if i can trust the Turnigys Regards, Scott
Simon Chaddock
Scott Of course you could have some bad ones but how free running is the linkage to the control surface? The servo will have plenty of power and gear strength to move the control surface on such a plane but not if the hinge is stiff and the linkage generates friction when under load. I always test my cheap servos with a servo tester before installation. So far only one 'bad' in 30 odd. All still going (oldest 3 years!) but then I do specialise in really free running hinges and links.
Glyn R
Sounds like servo overload to me.
scott finnie
The linkages are light greased as are the hinges, everything is very light and free, i have used 1 of them in my Orion -e and its been ok so far but the othersi'm not sure about
